SEMI-FINAL ROUND Meet Thorold in "OMHA
''Goderich defeated Alvinston at
Goderich Monday in the second game
of the Junior C OHA series by 10-1,
winning the round by 10 goals. Twelve
hundred fans crowded into the God-
erich Ice Palace.
The Sailors Should have been equip-
ped with outboard motors; the referee
with a helicopter machine, and the
boys from Alvinston with LST crafts.
McTaggart in the Alvinston net, who
saw more rubber and water than he
had seen all season, played a stellar
game.

After having soundly trounced
Hanover 17-8 on the round, having
won in Hanover 9-2 and at home by
8-6, thus giving them the W 0 A A
juvenile championship, Goderich
Juveniles played a 4-4 tie match in
the OMHA semi-finals with Wood-
stock at Woodstock Monday night be-
fore 1,466 fans,
Clinton fans may be able to see
the Goderich lads in action, as ar-
rangements are being made to play
the second game . of the series in
Stratford Arena after the Clinton -
London tilt tomorrow night.

the OMHA Midget playdowns, on arti-
ficial ice at Grimsby at 1 p.m. Sat-
urday, with return match (if ice avail-
able) in 'Godettich. next Tuesday,
March 19.
Listowel Midgets. defeated Goderich
10-6 at Listowel -Monday night but
lost the WOAA, midget hockey crown
onthe two -game total -goals round,
14-11, Goderich having taken the
opener 8-1 on their home ice Satur-
day. Listowel was defending cham-
pion,

Town Hell, Hensall, Tuesday evening,
March 12, to make arrangements to.

the past four years, and to ret up

projects, to be presented at the next
meeting.

Plan Social Gathering
Huron Old Boys' Association of
Toronto are holding a euchre, bridge
and dance at Columbus Hall, Sher -
bourne and Bloor Streets, on Friday,
April 5. Further announcements will
be made later.
Many former Huronites are now re-
siding' in Toronto and the names of
new residents are desired so that they
may be invited to the functions of

Gordon Wright, son of Mr. and MTS.
James Wright, Kippen, hat been ap-
pointed inspector of High Schools and
made his first visit to ,Seaforth, C1in-
ton, Exeter and Hensall last week.
Mr. Wright is a)former student of
Seafoi'th, Collegiate Institute, and
was teaching• in a collegiate in
Niagara Falls when he joined the
Navy, going overseas as a Lieutenant.
He returnedabout a year ago to
Hamilton.

Clinton -London Train
Held As Ice Floes Move
High water and moving ice floes
caused the Clinton to London CNR
train 604 to be held at Clinton for
over an hour Thursday last until' the
bridge spanning the Bayfield river.
11/4' miles south of Clinton Junction,
could be inspected.
Clinton boys playing in the vicinity
of the river, discovered one of the
upright. timbers supporting the bridge
damaged and reported their finding
to R'. M. Sperling, CNE agent at
Clinton. '
The train was due to leave Clinton
at 8.10 p.m. but was ordered held
until shortly after four o'clock when
the Stratford division ordered it to
proceed at reduced speed. The bridge
was crossed safely.'

to his enlistment in the RCAF in 1942,

G. E. Nelson, Clinton, acting secre-
tary, Huron County Fruit Growers'
Association, is receiving orders for
orchard supplies for 1946 and requests
that they be returned to Huron
County Agricultural Office Clinton,
by March' 21.

Lions Club plans a binge and dance

next, March 18. Authority for holding

Flt. Lieut Thomas 0, Cooke. DFC,
AFC, who recently received his dis-
charge from the RCAF; will com-
mence his duties Saturday in Clinton
branch, Royal Bank . of Canada. He
was attached to Niagara Falls Centre
branch when he enlisted in June 1940.
C.N.R. Appoints New!
Assistant Superintendent
E. Harold Locke, newly appointed
assistant superintendent of London
division, Canadian National Railways,
assumed his new duties this week.
Mr. Locke replaces J. H. Stevenson,
who will take over duties at Black
Rock, N.Y., as superintendent of
terminals.
Mr. Stevenson went to London in
Decediber, 1942, from North Bay,
where he was for 17 years secretary
to the general superintendent.
After leaving North Bay Mr. Stev-
i3nson went to Lindsay as train mas-
ter for 14 months remaining there
until receiving the appointment at
London.

Generalized Programme
For County Health
Urged by ;Supervisor
During a visit of inspection to
Huron. County last week, Miss, Edna
Squires, supervising nurse, Ontario
Department of Health, for this dist
rict, met Arthur Nicholson, reeve of
Tuckersmith and chairman of the
County Council Health and Hospitals
Committee, and urged establishment
oi' a generalized programme affecting
all residents of the County, and also
additional public health nurses.
The generalized prpramme in-
cludes treatment of vg eri.I disease,
infants, and pre-school ,chdren. It
would require additionetl nlnlses, and
possibly two fulltime Medical }Officers
of Health. .
While here, Miss Squires conferred
with and inspected the areas served
by Miss Jean Falconer., public hea'lt'h
nurse for South Huron, whose head-
quarters are in ESteter, and Miss
Mildred Haberer, public hea'lt'h nurse
for North Huron, whose headgiparte,s
are in Wingham,
With the idea in mind of zoning
the County. as provided for .under
Regulation 41 of the High School Act,
a special committee of Huron County
Council under the chairmanship of
J. B. Beecroft, reeve of East Wawa -
nosh Township, is calling a series of
five meetings in the County to dis- -
cuss the "matter.
In this connection, a meeting is
being held in Clinton C'ellegiate Aud-
itorium at 8 p m., Thursday next,
March 21, with G. L. Duffin, Ontario
Department of Education, as chief
speaker. In addition to zoning, bus
transportation of students to Clinton
Collegiate Institute, will be discussed.
Anyone interested in secondary school
education is invited to attend,
