NO EPIDEMICS
DURING PAST YEAR
(Continued from Page 1)
with the routine immunization work
recently carried on here.
Sewage System Needed
• "During the early part of my term
of office, a number of complaints
were received by People over lack 'of
{
service in ,c onneetion. with their D. Ex
closets. These complaints were in-
vestigated as ,they were. received, and
in most,. if notx..all .:instances, the
troubles were ironed out, and every-
one was happy. 11 any of these'coni-
plaints were due .to the fact that
the ;sanitary officer was interrupted'
in his routine duties to attend to''an
emergeney someplace where a septic
tank, which was serving sometimes
two or three families, 'failed to
fpnetien. properly. Many such in-
stances were reported during the
year, and we have just been able to
keep such services repaired and op-
erating, which your M.O.H. considers
very fortunate for the town. Just
how long we will be able to attain
this, of .course, is not known, but it
is hoped that present arrangements
may function or be repaired to
function until such time as we may
have to work for the installation and
operation of our sewage system. This,
of course; is a very needed project,
and utility in this . town,. sand it is
hoped that no time may be wasted by
the Mayor •and Council of 1946 in
instituting this very needed utility.
"I shall not stress the vital statis-
tics report, as this has already been
submitted• by -the local board of
Health.
Good Water and Milk
"Water samples as often. as they
have' been submitted to Toronto have
likewise always returned with the
same high grading, which we have
always received. Samples of milk
and cream submitted from time to
time for testing from the two
pasteurization plants in town and
the three dairies have Likewise re-
turned with satisfactory gradings on
each and every occasion. The town
is therefore, fortunate in having such
a splendid water and milk supply.
These two factors are no doubt highly
responsible for the splendid health
enjoyed by the people in the com-
munity.
'I shall not proceed in any further
detail at this time, as all the items
referrable to Public Health in this
community have been dealt with in
an extremely exhaustive report,
which has been submitted to the On-
tario Depattment of Health, and a
copy of which is included herewith.
In closing, however, I wish to
promise the new Mayor and Council
of my whole -hearted interest in the
town's affairs for the conning year,
particularly, and in so far as it con-
cerns the health of this community."
