Christmas Party'
A delightful Christmas PhrtY
was held by the Clinton IOOF
lodges in the lodge room on
Tuesday evening, December 13,
Lighted Christmas trees and
candles added much to the fes-
tive nature of the room.
During the early part of the
evening cards were enjoyed, "500"
and euchre being pleyeed. Win-
ners were: "500", Mrs, R. B. Tay-
lor, Mrs. C. Sturdy, A. Zapfe and
R. B. Taylor; euchre, Mrs. Lloyd
Bond, Mrs. Carman McPherson,
Frank McEvvaie and. Norman
Manning.
Santa Claus arrived and in a
very amusing manner saw that
each one received a gift from the
well -laden tree Refreshments
were serevd which were much
enjoyed. The singing of Christmas
carols, led by Benson Sutter with
Mrs, W. E. Perdue at the piano,
and solo parts being taken by
Mrs. W. N. Nediger and Mrs. Ben-
son Sutter, brought a very pleas-
ant evening to a close.

seasonally decorated with a large
Christmas tree and electrically
lighted candles, crosses and oth-
er Christmas decorations was
packed to capacity on Sunday
night for the annual carol and
candle lighting service under
the auspices of the Young Peo-
ple's Union.
Rev. Hugh C. Wilson, minister
of the church, presided and gave
the prayers and the Scripture
lesson, Mrs. M. J. Agnew was
at the organ for the entire service
and during the offertory accomp-
anied A. R. Perean who played
"Angel's Serenade" ,as a violin
solo.
Following the processional
hymn "0 Come all ye Faithful,"
several carols were sung by the
choir and congregation and the
choir sang the anthem, "On
We wish you a Season
laden with cheer, followed
by a' year brimming with

of their 45th wedding anniversary,
from 2-5 and 7-9 pm.

day last to spend Christmas with

She will spend the latter part of
the winter in Morrishurg, Ont,
with Mrs. M. D. McTaggart.

out the evening which included
a duett by Misses Edith and
Gladys Pepper; a male quartette
composed of Gerald Mistele, Don-
ald Symons, Sam Stubbs and
Tohn Wilson; a solo by June
Middleton; and a duett by.Don-
ald and Florence Symons. A girls'
chorus, consisting of Misses Bette
Woolfrey, Joyce Grigg, Margaret!
Holland, Ruth Wilson, Jean Nedi-
ger, Isobel dhowen, Audrey Jer-
vis and Mary Tyndall, sang very
sweetly "0 Holy Night"
The beautiful candle -lighting
service was conducted by Elwin
Merrill, president of Huron Pres-
bytery Y.P.U., assisted by the
choir who went around the church
carrying their lighted candles.
Following the recessional hymn
, 'The First Nowell," a mixed
quartette, Mary Sutter, Jean
Nediger, Aim Wilson and Don-
ald Andrews, sang very effectiv-
ely the Vesper, "Silent Night."

Club Holds Meeting
The Girls' Club of Ontario St.
United Church held its Decem-
ber meeting at the home of the

evening last The president, Miss
Grant, read a call to worship,
An excellent programme was
given consisting of a piano solo
'by Mrs. E. Radford, a 'Christmas
reading by Mrs. Huron Murch,
two solos, "Silent Night," and
"0 Come all ye Faithful," sung
in her native Dutch tongue by
Mr. Bruce Cann. Miss Sybil
Courtice gave a very interesting
talk on Christmas in Japan, tell-
ing of the activities of the church
at this season, and the interest
shown. The programme was
greatly enjoyed by those present
and very much appreciated.
A hearty vote of thanks was
tendered to the retiring presi-
dent, Miss Grant for the splen-
did work she had done through
the past years. Mr. Woolfrey
closed the meeting with prayer.
A delicious lunch was served by
members of Mrs. Willis VenEg-
mond's group.

Stresses Christmas
The Christmas spirit was em-
phasized by the singing of hymns
and carols at the December meet-
ing of the WMS of Clinton Pres-
byterian Church, which met at
the home of Mrs. G. W. Nott
with a good attendance.
Mrs. George Roberton took
charge of the devotional period
in which the Christmas story
from the second chapter of Luke
was read by Mrs. Charles Clifton
and prayer offered by Mrs. Ro-
bert McKenzie. Current events
were given by Mrs. Allan Max-
well telling of Chinese work In
Victoria, B.C., and the contribu-
tion the church was making to
that work for women and child -
Mrs. John Snider and Mrs.
Lane sang a lullaby, "Sleep, My
Saviour Sleep." Mrs. Lane took
charge of the election of officers
for 1950, which resulted as fol -
