ANOTHER pre -Christmas party
was held at the Officers' Mess
of the RCAF Station, Saturday,
when the Officers' Wives Auxil-
iary held an old-fashioned "Box
Social" . , , An evening of in-
formal games was enjoyed in the
mess which was gaily decorated
with a Christmas tree, balloons
and streamers .
* * *
THE OFFICERS' Wives Auxil-
iaiy have announced what they
have accomplished with t he
money raised during the past
half year . , . A steam kettle
was purchased for the Clinton
Hospital and donations of $25 each
were made to the Goderich and
Seaforth Hospitals, and to the
Star Santa Claus fund .. .
e 0 e
ABOUT fifty youthful "pat-
rons" of the Clinton Grill were
very happy Monday afternoon,
when Mrs. C. Vanbamme enter-
tained at a Christmas Harty for
them . Balloons, favours and
treats all added to the gaiety of
the occasion , ,
THE VOICE OF
TEMPERANCE
Last Wednesday morning they
hanged John Christian down at
Chatham. He was a veteran of
the last war and he had a wife
and two small children. Some
months ago, being awakened out
of a drunken stupor, he had kil-
led a man. That's how terrible
the sequel to drinking can be;
first murder, then hanging the
murderer. That's why the Huron
Temperance Federation keeps on
fighting against alcoholism and
for. sobriety. 51-b

OWL CAUSES TROUBLE
GODERICH — A king-sized
Arctic owl which crashed the
windshield of a bread delivery
truck operated by Johnny Me -
!Grew just about left fanners
lnorth of here without bread over
the weekend. Near Leburn, Mc-
'Graw's truck nearly crashed into
the ditch when the owl came
'through the windshield scattering
'glas and feathers in all direc-
tions.
I Guests enjoyed refreshments
lin the snack bar which this year
features a Television set.
The party was considered a
great success and reflects credit
on Mr, Wes. McCutcheon the
Chairman and his committee who
planned the affair.
