J. pfe, Caryl Draper, Roy Barton, neroft, and - Wes Nott, and an ven better impromptu quartette mposed of. Mrs. 'Gordon Ben- ett, Mrs. H. C. Lawson, Mrs. W. Oakes and Mrs. George Mc - Lay ... (We are safe in making Mc - .:1: that latter statement because the men don't read this column) . A driving lesson, in which Frank Pennebaker was shown how it Is done by Gordon Bennett... And the highlight of the evening, when the Lions showed the ladies what a fashion ,Trow should be . . . The "gentlemen" modelled every- thing from what the smart farm- er's wife would be.wearing as a result of lost foreign markets to a ghostly apparition which ap- peared at the end of the show The "models" were Hugh Hawkins, George Beattie, Lorne Brown; Newt. O * 5 ANOTHER pre -Christmas party was held at the Officers' Mess of the RCAF Station, Saturday, when the Officers' Wives Auxil- iary held an old-fashioned "Box Social" . , , An evening of in- formal games was enjoyed in the mess which was gaily decorated with a Christmas tree, balloons and streamers . * * * THE OFFICERS' Wives Auxil- iaiy have announced what they have accomplished with t he money raised during the past half year . , . A steam kettle was purchased for the Clinton Hospital and donations of $25 each were made to the Goderich and Seaforth Hospitals, and to the Star Santa Claus fund .. . e 0 e ABOUT fifty youthful "pat- rons" of the Clinton Grill were very happy Monday afternoon, when Mrs. C. Vanbamme enter- tained at a Christmas Harty for them . Balloons, favours and treats all added to the gaiety of the occasion , , THE VOICE OF TEMPERANCE Last Wednesday morning they hanged John Christian down at Chatham. He was a veteran of the last war and he had a wife and two small children. Some months ago, being awakened out of a drunken stupor, he had kil- led a man. That's how terrible the sequel to drinking can be; first murder, then hanging the murderer. HURO BOYS' REUNION SUCCESSFUL Members of Huron County Old Boys' Association of Toronto gathered at lovely Casa Loma for their annual At -Home. Large numbers of Old Boys and their friends . assembled at the "Castle" for this enjoyable social, event. Guests were received by Pres- ident and Mrs. IC. C. Stanbury, Vice -President and Mrs. Gordon Fowler,- and Vice -President and Mrs. Robert Leiper. Bridge and euchre nerd the attention of many guests in the Conservatory. Euchre prize win- ners were: Mrs. M. Irvine, Mr. B. Jones, and Mr. Gardiner, Bridge winners were, Mrs. E. J. B. Dungan and Dr. Gordon Fer- guson. The Ballroom .vas the focal centre of the evening's entertain- ment. Numerous prizes were presented and during intermiss- ion a mysterious "Mr. Huron" was unveiled in "the person of Mr. Harvey Messer, prominent WIng- ham Old Boy, Lucky draw prize winners in- cluded; Mr. and Mrs. Davis Moore Mr. Hillman, Mrs. Kay Covell, Miss Ann Moore, Mr. Ernie Blather, Miss Florence Wright and Miss Sadie Walker. Eliminat- on Dance winners included Mrs. E. Hunter and Mr. Bill Connor, Mrs. Harvey Messer and Mr. Forgie. it OWL CAUSES TROUBLE GODERICH — A king-sized Arctic owl which crashed the windshield of a bread delivery truck operated by Johnny Me - !Grew just about left fanners lnorth of here without bread over the weekend. Near Leburn, Mc- 'Graw's truck nearly crashed into the ditch when the owl came 'through the windshield scattering 'glas and feathers in all direc- tions. I Guests enjoyed refreshments lin the snack bar which this year features a Television set. The party was considered a great success and reflects credit on Mr, Wes.
