Ladies' Aid Meets
The monthly meeting of the
Baptist Ladies' Aid was' held on
Thursday afternoon, at the home
of Mrs. C. A. Howson, with Mrs.
Howson in charge. Several fav-
orite hymns were sung, with harp
accompaniment by Mrs. R. J,
Phillips. The Lord's Prayer was
repeated in unison, led by Mrs.
John Yungblut; scripture reading
and prayer by Rev. A. Forsyth;
readings were givenby Mrs.

Match near Brantford, and spent
the weekend with their cousins,
Mr. and Mrs. Ire. Merrill,
Conununity Club Meets
The S. S. No. 4 Community
Club met at the home of Mrs,
Irvine Tebbutt for the October
meeting. With the president in
charge, the meeting was opened
by repeating the Lord's Prayer
in. unison. The roll call was "a
hint on storing vegetables." There
were 12 members and one visitor
present. The mintues of the pre-
vious meeting were read and
adopted. hems of business were
discussed, The meeting was clos-
ed by repeating the Mizpah Bene-
diction. The remainder of the
afternoon' was spent in quilting.
A delicious lunch was served by
the hostess. The next meeting
will be held, at the home of Mrs.
Frank Jones.
Club Holds Meeting
The September meeting of the
London Road Club was held at
the home of Mrs. H. Plumsteel.
Mrs. Anderson occupied the
chair. The meeting opened with
the singing of "My Old Kentucky
Home."
The minutes of the last meet-
ing were read by Mrs. M. Wiltse
in the absence of Mrs. Scott. Re-'
ports were given by the treasur-
er and the flower committee. The
roll call was answered by ten
members and four visitors. Mrs.
Manning reported'. that a pair of
blankets had been sent to Mr.
and Mrs. Postill. A card of
thanks was read from Byron Row-
cliffe. It was decided to send a
pair of blankets to the Falconer
family. The travelling apron was
given to Mrs. M. Wiltse to pass
on to the ladies in town.
Mrs. A. Wiltse has charge of
the programme and gave a read-
ing. Mrs. Clegg gave a very in-
teresting account of her trip to
Oklahoma which was very much
enjoyed. A contest was held, ROY N. BENTL
guessing the number of corn 36 Regent St. Box 58

celebrate its anniversary on Sun-
day, October 23, with services at
11 a.m. and 7.30 pm. The guest
speaker will be Rev, S. H. Bren-
ton, Londesboro, and special
music will be given by the choir.
Community Club Meets
Stanley Community Club held
he meeting on Thursday, October
6, at the home of Mrs. John Mc-
Cowan, with 20 members, two
visitors, end seven children
present.
The meeting opened with the
Lord's Prayer, and the secretary's
and treasurer's reports were giv-
en. During the business discus-
sion it was decided to send an-
other $10 to the U.B.F.B fund, It
was also pllanned to ,entertain
the Tuckersmsth Club at e party
in the school on November 4.
A contest was conducted by
Mrs. Walter Moffatt and the
meeting closed with the Mizpah
Benediction. The hostess and her
group served a delicious lunch.
The next meeting will be held
at the home of Mos. Graham
and the roll call will be "Your
Favourite Recipe."

J. Lindsay have moved to Clin-
ton where they have purchased
a home. Mr. Lindsay served as
postmaster here for over 33 years
and had been a resident of the
village, for 68 years. Mrs, Lind-
say also is a member of a pioneer
district family. She was form-
erly Catherine Gaynor, a daugh-
ter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Pat-
rick Gaynor.
