on Tuesday to make his future

Mrs. H. C. Lawson left Monday
afternoon by CNR to 'spend a few
days with relatives in Toronto.
Mr. and Mrs. George Roberton,
London, called on Mrs. Charles'
Fraser and Miss Viola on Sunday.
Mrs. Emma Sutter, Stratford,
is visiting at the home of her
san and daughter-in-law, Mr. and
Mrs. John A. Sutter.
Mrs. F. W. Johnston returned
home on Monday after a week's
visit with Georgetown, Norval
and Brampton friends,
Mr. and Mrs. Bert White and
family have moved to MitehelR
where Mr. White is employed with
Richmond Hosiery Limited.
LAC and Mrs. H. ,L. Bastocic,
Ottawa, have been visiting the
letter's family in town. The
latter was, formerly Miss Jessie
Campbell.
Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Barr, To-
ionto, visited over the weekend
with . the latter's brother and
sister-in-law, Mr. end Mrs, Char,
les Lockwood.
Miss JoAnne Cuninghame, Sar -
Ma, and John Cuninghame, Owen
Sound, visited their parents, Mr.
and rs. Gordon W. Cuninghame
over the weekend,
Mr, and Mrs. Willis Cooper,
London, Eng„ are expected to
arrive in Clinton to -night to visit
with the former's parents, Mr.
and Mrs. A. T. Cooper.
Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Werry
and two children, David and
Ruth M •ry, Bowmanville, were
weekend visitors at the home of
Mr. and Mrs,' C. H. Epps.
Mr. and Mrs. Royce S. Mac-
aulay and family have taken up
residence in the residence on
Maple Ave., formerly occupied
by Mr. and Mrs. Bert White.
John Ostler, who has been
employed with Stanley Bros. for
the past two years, has commenc-
ed a course at Toronto Bible
College, which will continue un-
til next spring.
Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Cyril
Hoare, • Pembroke, formerly of
Clinton, arrived Tuesday, to spend
a brief vacation with the former's
father, Cornelius Hoare, and oth-
er relatives in this district.
Mrs Jessie Blunt, Centre Line,
Mich., visited Mrs. Charles Fras-
er and Miss Viola over the week-
end. On her return on Monday
she was accompanied by Mrs.
Cree Cook who is spending a few
days in Detroit end Windsor.
Mr. and Mrs. John Stirling
were in Detroit over the week-
end attending•the funeral of the
former's brother, the late S. R.
Stirling. Tomorrow, Friday, Oc-
tober 7, Mr. and Mrs. Stirling
will celebrate their 27th wedding
anniversary,
Mr. end Mrs. Alvin Cox, Clin-
ton, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Thomp-
son and Frank, and Mr. and Mrs.
J. Huller, Goderich Township,
spent the weekend in Berkley,
Mich., and while there attended
the Beach -Durst wedding in First
Methodist Church, Royal Oak,
Mich.
Flying Officer and Mrs. Richard
D. Fremlin left by CNR Monday

OBITUARY
S. REUBEN STIRLING
Funeral services were held, in
the Neely Funeral Home, in
Detroit, Mich„ on Saturday, Oct-
ober 1, 1949. with Rev. George
Jeffrey officiating for Samuel
Reuben Stirling, former resident
of this community. Interment,
followed in Grand Lawn Cemet-
ery.
Mr. Stirling was born at Bervie,
Bruce County; an December 29,
1889, a son of the late Mr. and
Mrs. John Stirling. He ted re-
sided in the United States 'for
the' past 30 years.
Mr. Stirling's death occurred
on Thursday, September 29, foll-
owing an illness of over two
year's duration.
As a young man Mr. Stirling
married Elizabeth Smith, who
survives as well as two sons,
John end Kenneth, and seven
grandchildren nil of Detroit. As
well there are two sisters, Mrs.
James A. Fritts, Jackson, Mich.,
and Mrs. Pearl Carruthers, Grand
Bend, and two brothers, John,
Clinton, and William, Lansing
Mich.

Fremlin is stationed with the
RCAF at that point. They have
been visiting the former's par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Frem-
lin, Clinton.
Mrs. Hester Robinson, Kenona,
is visiting her brother-in-law
and sister, Mr. and Mrs. B. J.
Gibbings. Other visitors in the
Gibbings home over the weekend
were Mr. and Mrs. Rufus And-
rews, Akron, Ohio, brother and
sister -in -low of Mrs. Gibbings
end Mrs. Robinson.
