Mrs. Edith Quaife has returned
to her home in Toronto after
visiting at the home of her son
and daughter-in-law, Mr. and
Mrs. Murray Quaife.
Mr. and Mrs. John A. Sutter
were in St. Catharines on Tues-
day attending the funeral of the
letter's aunt, the late Miss Hester
Holmes.
Benson Sutter was a delegate
from London Conference YPII to
Hamilton Conference YPU Con-
vention in. Guelph over the past
weekend.
Miss Beryl LaPierre returned
Monday after spending a vaca-
tion with her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Harvey LaPierre, Halifax,
Nova Scotia.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Symons
and daughter, Shirley, Port Hope,
were weekend guests et the
home of the former's brother and
sister-in-law, Mr, and Mrs. Don-

Miss Aphre Steepe has return-
ed home from Sault Ste. Marie,
Mich., where she has been visit-
ing her aunt, Miss Elizabeth
Sheppard who fell injuring both
arms.

Ridgetown, Mr. and Mrs, N. Alien,
Kitchener, Mrs. Oiler and Mrs.
I. Moss, Goderich, visited with
Mrs. F. W. Johnston during the
past couple of weeks.
Frank Fingland, Jr., spent the
past week at his home in town,
atfer having served four months
in the Royal Canadian Navy as
a Cadet Officer. He returns this
week to Victoria College, Univer-
sity of Toronto,

Ontario St. Girls' Club
Has Splendid Meeting
The Girls' Club of Ontario St.
United Church held its monthly
meeting at the . home of Mrs.
Willis VanEgmond on Thursday
evening, September 8. The presi-
dent, Miss Grant, read a hymn
on fellowship: and service, as a
cell to warship, and also had
charge of the devotional period.
Rev. W.J. Woolfrey led in prayer,
Mrs. Farnham gave a mission-
ary reading, and Mrs. Bennett
favoured with two solos "Caro-
lina" and '!Sweet Mystery of
Life" Mrs. Wiltse gave a piano
solo, all numbers being much
enjoyed.
Mr. Woolfrey gave - a talk on
the experiences of young men
going into the ministry and
serving on mission fields which
was very interesting.
Lunch served by Mrs, Van-
Egmond and members ' of her
group brought to a close a very
pleasant evening.
Presbyterian Girls'
Club Holds Meeting
The Girls' Club „ of Clinton
Presbyterian Church held its
monthly meeting at the home of
Mrs. Jack Leiper with a fair at-
tendance, The meeting opened
with the singing of a hymn, fol-
lowed be Mrs. Sims reading the
Scripture. Mrs. D, J. Lane led
in prayer.
The minutes were read and the
roll call was answered by a Bible
verse. The treasurer's report was
given. Plans were made for the
coming bazaar.
The meeting closed with the
singing of a hymn and the Miz-
pah Benediction, and a delicious
lunch was served by the hostess.

Miss Dorothy McGuire
Reports on Camp Visit
Clinton Junior Institute held
its regular meeting in Clinton
Collegiate Institute on Tuesday
evening, September 13. The
meeting opened with the Institute
Ode followed by the Lord's
Prayer.
The theme of the meeting was
"Health." Miss Nora Cunning-
ham, Clinton, Public Health
Nurse, gave 'a splendid talk on
health and also told of the work
that the Public Health nurses are
doing.
Gladys Pepper was hostess and
introduced the guests Who were
present. Mary Hudie gave an ac-
count of Current Events.
The joint meeting followed
with Murray Roy as chairman.
The, meeting opened with the
singing of ,`O Canada," and a
busines period followed.
Dorothy McGuire gave a splen-
did report on the Geneva Park,
Lake Couchiching Junior Farmer
Leadership Training Camp, Sep-
tember 5-12. From this report
it was gathered that this camp
is a very educational and worth-
while camp, and also that she
had a wonderful time. Miss Mc-
Guire taught some of the games
she had learned at the camp
during the recreational periods.
Everyone is asked to bring a
friend to the next meeting to see
if more people can not become
interested in the Junior Farmers'
meetings,

The Mothers' Club of Wesley -
Willis United Church will meet
on Tuesday, September 27, at the
home of Mrs. Dr. J. A. Addison.

Honors Fred Kirby
A very successful home garden
exhibition and surprise party was
given for Fred Kirby at the St.
Paul's Sunday School, Clinton, on
Monday evening, September 12.
All the classes joined in malt-
ing it ,a colourful and pleasant
evening. The girls brought many
varied bouquets of flowers and
numerous exhibits of all kinds of
fruit. The boys showed a great
selection of vegetables including
popping corn; one cob weigheB
I f'r lbs. Quite a few boys brought
jars of "Mom's" pickles, all of
which gave the judges quite a
lot of difficulty deciding the best.
After the singing of "We're
sorry you're going away," Fred,
the good friend and pal to so
many of the boys, started to open
the many surprise gift boxes
which were given to him, These
were not just gift -wrapped but
were wrapped and wrapped with
many humorous results enjoyed
by all.
Everyone wished Fred the best
of health, wisdom and happiness
in his college life and all stated
that St. Paul's Sunday School
will always remember Fred Kirby.
He has enrolled in Huron Col-
lege, University of Western On-
tario, London.

Mrs. Catherine Hill, who has
resided with her daughter, Mrs.
B. M. VanSickle, Rattenbury St.
W., Clinton, for the pest three
years, sails by the SS `Samaria"
from Quebec City on Saturday
for her native Scotland, She will
remain in Edinburgh.
Mrs Hill was the guest at an
"open house" party et the home
of her daughter Monday evening
when she was the recipient of
many gifts Mrs K Gallagher
also entertained for her Tuesday
evening at a shower.
A family reunion was held at
the Vansickle home on Sunday
when Mr. and Mrs. H. S. Van -
Sickle, Miss Joyce Vansickle and
Owen Cidrke, all of Hamilton,
bade Mrs. HMS good-bye.
W. -W. Girls' Club
Opens Fall Term
An informal social afternoon
held at the summer home in
Bayfiekl of Mrs. Cree Cook, open-
ed the . fall term for the Girls'
Club of Wesley -Willis United
Church. Mrs. Cook's group had
charge of the meeting.
The president, Miss W. O'Neil,
opened the meeting with a short
prayer, followed by the Lord's
Prayer repeated in unison. There
was some discussion on plans for
the fall bazaar to be held jointly
with the WA cn October 20. Miss
Fraser reported on progress made
for the candy booth.
Miss Morley, as guest speaker,
showed some beautiful pictures
of Arizona, centring mainly on
the Grand and. Bryce Canyons,.
commenting on the scenery and
vegetation which could be seen
in the views.
Miss Fraser led in a sing song
after which a delicious buffet
luncheon was served. Many
thanks are due Mrs. Cook for a
very pleasant afternoon.

turned from Toronto, where she
met her daughter, Mrs. Hunt, who
was returning 'to Calgary with
her two ehild,'en after being
flown to Toronto for an emerg
ency oiler atton, Mrs. Hunt re-
covered sufficiently to be able
to attend her sister's wedding
