Colts Smash Lucan,
First League Final
Lucan Irish Nine failed to live
up to expectations and took a
19-2 lambasting from Clinton
Colts in the first game of the
Huron=Perth Baseball League
OBA Intermediate "C" finals
here Monday evening.
The visitors did not appear to
be a shadow of the team which
held Colts to two one -run victor-
ies during the regular . league
schedule. They fell apart a

tough, and the large crowd were
rather disappointed with thea*
showing.
Lucan, paraded three pitchers
to the mound—Baal, Wilson, and
Appleton—but they were all eq-
ually ineffective. The kid App-
leton probably showed as the
best of the trip. Draper twirled
for five frames and Bob Craig
one for the Colts.
Colt batsmen had a field day
as,Bill Craig racked up four in
fie, Art Woodcock three in four,
and Clarence . Neilans three in
five.
Although Lucan played the
first half of the seventh, in which
safe hits, the game reverted to
the end. of the seventh, it being
called on account of darkness.

Seaforth Voters Favor
Community Centre
By- a vote of 252 to 188, Sea -
forth ratepayers recently approv-
ed a proposal to raise $40,000 by
town debenture issue toward the
cost of a proposed $70,000' Mem-
orial Community Centre. The
turnout of 440 voters of the 591
ratepayers listed as eligible to
cast ballots on the money by-law
was considered an exceptionally
heavy vote for a referendum
conducted in the holiday season.
It will require about one month
Mayor Keating estimated, to
take the necessary legal steps,
and make necessary arrange-
ments, to begin to put the will
of the ratepayers, as expressed
by yesterday's vote, into effect.
If all goes well, however, the
mayor said, it is conceivable that
a start may be made this year on
the actual building. It may be
possible, he said, that the ex-
cavation work can be done, and
the foundation built, before mow
