F. Cools on a charge of drunk driving. He was given a seven-day jail term, ordered to pay costs or serve an additional seven days in jail, had his car impounded for three months and his right to drive suspended for six months, The first witness, Provincial 'Constable R. P. Bruce, said he saw the accused in a ear parked on the north lane of No. 8 High- way with the motor and lights on. When he went over to the carhe found he accused sleeping behind the wheel, The first ef- forts ofthe constabIe to arouse Griese failed, until he was stood up outside the car. Constable Bruce said the accused was drunk. Following this evidence S. K. Hunter, Goderich, defence coun- sel, asked the magistrate for time to confer with his client and then requested the change of plea.
