Mr. and Mrs. John Middleton
spent a pleasant week at Port
Elgin beach. They were joined
on Saturday by Mr. end Mrs.
Ross Middleton and spent the
weekend at Meaford, Coiling -
wood and Georgian Bay.

funeral of the late Ogle Russell,
Glamis. He was the only son of
the late Robert Russell, a pioneer
of the Township,
Mr. and Mrs. Earnest Garrett
and son Michael, London, and
Gordon Garrett, Port Stanley,
visited with Mr. and Mrs. Reg.
Miller, having come up to the
funeral of their father, Joseph
Garrett, who died in Clinton Pub-
lic Hospital on Sunday.

Largely Attended
The funeral of the late Chris-
topher H. Haugh who was in-
stantly killed last Monday when
the bicycle he was riding collid-
ed with a Hanover truck, was
held in United Church on Wed-
nesday. The service was very
largely attended. Rev. G. F. N,
Atkinson of Wardsville, Dr. H.
A. Kellerman of Kitchener and
Rev. H. C. Wilson of Clinton
assisted in the service. A quar-
tette consisting of Mrs. J. R.
Murdoch, Miss Eva Stackhouse,
J. K. Cornish and E. Williams,
sang ".The Old Rugged Cross."
Pallbearers were all nephews:
Arthur, Milton, David and Wil-
liam Haugh, all of Dashwood:

Mrs. V. A. Burt, who has been
taking a Summer Course at the
Uniyersity of Toronto, is spend-
ing' a holiday with her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Baker. Mr.
and Mrs. Howard Burt and Ron-
ald Burt, London, were also with
their grandparents over t h e
weekend.
A very successful Bazaar and
Tea was held in the St. Andrews
United Church Parlours on Sat-
urday afternoon under the aus-
pices of the W. A. The tea tables
were tastefully arranged with
floral centres.
In Critical Condition
Charles Gemeinhard was tak-
en to Clinton Public Hospital on
Saturday in an unconscious con-
dition following a heart attack.
At time of writing he was still
in a critical condition. His many
friends hope for a speedy recov-
ery.
Travel by Plane
Grant Wilcox, Detroit, has been
landing his Luscombe two-seater
plane in Harold Brandon's field
on the lakeshore road in the
village. Mr. and Mrs. Wilcox
and family ere occupying Wil-
liam L. Metcalf's cottage.
Successful Reunion
Members of the Powell and
Switzer families gathered at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. George
Lindsay on Sunday for a reunion.
Picnic tables were set on the
lawn. Fifty-five were present,
members of the connection com-
ing from Wingham, BIyth, Kip -
pen and Seaforth, Mr. and Mrs.
Percy Powell, Mission City, BC.,
were also present. They arrived
in this district July 27 to visit
relatives. Their last trip east
was in 1936.
Prominent Kinsmen
H. A. Rogers, O. B. E., Mrs.
Rogers and Miss Diane, Toronto,
spent the weekend with the for-
mer's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chas.
F. Rogers. Harold A. Rogers
is a public spirited man. A vet-
eran of World War 1 he was
wounded in 1918 after serving
two -ands -a -half years with the
Canadian Forces, arriving home
on his 21st birthday, He found-
ed the Kinsmen Club in Hamilton
which has now grown to include
275 clubs in Canada, second only
to the Rotory Club in size. He
was War Chairman of the Nat-
ional War Service Committte of
Kinsmen which sent twelve mill-
ion quarts of milk to British
children, At the present time
he is chairman of the school
board of Forest Hill Village
where a new school costing
$1,500,000 is to be opened Sep-
tember 28 by Premier Frost. Two
other large schools have been
completed and are in use under
his chairmanship.
