and children were also here to
visit them. A, E. Beaton had not
been home singe 1912 and his
mother greatly enjoyed his pleas-
ant visit.
Rev. Edward C. Rorke, rector
of St. Mark's Episcopal Parish,
North Tonawanda, N.Y., younger
son of Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Rorke,
visited his parents here last week
and with them motored to the
tourist camp of brother and son,
Capt. W. K. Rorke, River Point
Cabins, Prescott. On their re-
turn they were accompanied by
Miss Florence Rorke who also
had been one of the family party
at Prescott. She is spending a
week with her parents at their

Nuptials for Bayfield Girl

F. Stotesbury, . The bride, the former Jeanne Lucille Sturgeon,
is the youngest . daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Edward
Sturgeon, and her husband is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank
Anderson, Science Hill. They have taken up residence in

Honored Ere Leaving
Mrs. M. D. McTaggart kindly
opened her home to the neigh-
bours and friends of Mrs. Frank
Lawrence, who is leaving town
to join her husband at RCAF
Station, Trenton.
A very enjoyable evening was
spent by all. Mrs. Lawrence and
her little daughters, Margaret and
Elaine, were such friendly folk
that the friends here wished to
be remembered by them. On be-
half of the gathering Mrs. James
McGill presented Mrs. Lawrence
with a lovely china cake plate,
and the hostess served Idainty
refreshments.

Hears of Mission Work
The WMS of Clinton Presby-
terian Church met on Tuesday,
July 19, at the home of Mrs.
Robert McKenzie, After reading
a new hymn in unison Mrs. James
Mekins read the Scripture and
Mrs. McTaggart followed with
prayer.
Current events were given by
Mrs. Lane who read an interest-
ing letter from Mrs. Stuart Mac-
aulay (nee Helen Shaddock)
describing a visit to Dr. Gren-
fell's Mission in Labrador, where
at e celebration over $1,000 was
raised for the work. "Chinese
Christians Face Their Tasks" was
the title of the chapter from the
Study Book, well taken by Mrs.
Charles Clifton,
Mrs. Roberton, president, wel-
comed the visitors and all en -
toyed afternoon tea served by
Mrs. McKenzie and her daughter.
During the tee hour all were
entertained by a programme of
music from a record player.

County Home Ladies
Treated to Picnic
A very pleasant afternoon was
spent Tuesday by 22 of the ladies
of Huron County Home when
Mrs. M. E. Jacob and Mrs, E. 3.
Jacob, assisted by Miss Ann Rad-
ley, treated them to a very de-
lightful picnic at Bayfield. After
enjoying the balmy breezes of the
lake, a picnic lunch was served
in Clan Gregor Squarer
Following the lunch the group
went to the Jacob cottage in the
village where Jack Match, De-
troit, brother of Mrs. E, J. Jacob,
treated the ladies to a number of
selections an the bagpipes.
HONOURS IN PIANO
Four pupils of Mrs. E. Wendorf
have received honoursin, t h e
recent piano examinations con-
ducted by the Royal Conserva-
tory of Music, Toronto. These
pupils were: Grade 3, Thelma
Baird, Brucefield; Margaret Tre-
win, Londesboro; Margie Ellen
Lawson, Clinton; Grade 5, Beth
Lloyd, Walton.

Regal lilies graced the altar and
baskets of summer flowers in
pink, blue and white shades made
very pretty setting for the
double wedding in Trinity Ang-
lican Church, Bayfield, on Thurs-
day afternoon, July 14, 1949, at
2.30 o'clock, when Nora Marg-
aret, third daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Christopher Parker, Varna,
became the bride of Lloyd Nelson
Heard, son of Mr. end Mrs. Nel-
son Heard, Bayfield, and Louise
Anna, fourth daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Christopher Parker became
the bride of Charles Presber, son
of Mr. and Mrs, Henry Presber,
Naicam, Sask,
The ceremony was performed
by Rev. John Graham, Watford,
a former Rector of the Pariah.
The lreecrtiful brides entered
the church to the strains of the
Bridal Chorus from Lohengein
played by their aunt, Mrs. E. A.
Featherston.
Nora Margaret was given in
marriage by her father. Hes long
white satin gown was fashioned,
with full skirt and bustle, tight
bodice, and low neckline finished
with an embroidered bertha and
long sleeves ending in lily points
on her hands. Her floor -length
veil was held in place by a Queen

ried a cascade bouquet of red
Peerless roses and fern.
Miss Betty Heard, :London,
cousin of the groom, was brides-
maid. She wore a long pink sheer
gown with draped skirt, bustle
effect, the bodice being` fashioned
with an off -the -shoulder neck-
line and puff sleeves. A match-
ing ostrich headdress held her
shoulder -length veil in place and
she wore long pink lace mittens
and carried, a nosegay of pink
Rapture roses and fern.
Kenneth Brandon was best man,
Louise Anna was given. fn mar-
riage by her uncle, J. H, Parker.
She wore a floor -length white
gown. The full skirt was of
double net over taffeta and the
lace bodice fashioned with a pep-
lum, sweetheart neckline and
three-quarter length sleeves. A
matching shoulder -length veil
fell from a sequin headdress and
she wore long lace mittens and
carried a nosegay of Pink Rapture
roses and fern,
Keith Brandon was groomsman.
Mrs. R. Larson, aunt of the
brides, sang "Because" before the
cermony and "1'14 Walk Beside
You" during the signing of the
register.
The ushers were Murray Hoh-
ner and Charles Reid, Varna.
For the reception which fol-
lowed at the Albion Hotel, Bay-
field, Mrs. Chris, Parker wore a
street -length white flowered jere
say dress with white accessories
and a corsage of Talisman roses.
She was assisted by Mrs. Nelson
Heard who was attired in a light.

About forty guests were pres-
ent including Mr. and Mrs. L. B.
Smith, London; Mr. and Mrs.
Harold King, Sarnia; Mr. and Mrs.
Minion Heard, Holmesville; Mr.
and Mrs, L. Heard, Clinton.; and
Mr. and Mrs. George Reid, Varna.
The brides' table was done in
pink and white with a three -
tiered wedding cake at each end
and floral centre of shasta daisies.
Other floral decorations were
carried out with mixed summer
flowers.
Following the reception, there
was open house for friends end
relatives at the home of the
brides' parents, Varna.
Later the two young couples
left together on a motor trip to
Muskoka end Niagara Falls, For
travelling Mrs, Heard wore a grey
gabardine suit with, black acces-
sories, and Mrs. Presber also
chose a grey gabardine suit with
which she wore green accessories.
On their return Mr. and Mrs.
Heard will reside on the Babylon
Line near Varna, and Mr, and.
Mrs. Presber will leave to take
up residence on their farm near
Naieam, Sask.
