Careless Driving
Charge Dismissed
A charge of careless driving
against William FRobertson, 16,
son of Elmer Robertson, R.R. 5,
Goderich, was dismissed by Mag-
istrate D. E. Holmes, at Goderich
Tuesday.
The charge arose out of an ac-
cident June 11 on the Bronson
Line between Zurich and Bayfield
when a truck driven by Robert-
son collided with another truck
in charge of Albert Deihere,
Zurich.
The Robertson truck was one
of a cavalcade of cars taking a
number of Junior Faimers to the
Junior Farmers' Day at Bayfield.
CATTLE MOVING
AT BRISK RATE;
PIGS SLACKEN
"Cattle continue to move at a
fairly brisk pace for this time
of the year," R. Gordon Bennett,
Clinton, agricultural representa-
tive for Huron County, reported,
today. "A number of cattle have
gone out during the past two
weeks which ordinarily would not
have been marketed for at least
a month, if weather conditions
bed been more favourable.
'There would appear to be a
slackening in the demand for
weanling pigs, with farmers being
reluctant in paying' the high
prices for them," he stated.
Crops in this area look surpris-
ingly well in spite of the very
hot wether and for the most
part dry, although rains seem to
have come at the right time; dur-
ing the past -two weeks the rain
has been a great help to spring
'grain and winter wheat. Winter
wheat is turning rapidly and the
harvesting of this crop should be
one of the earliest on record.
Haying is in full swing with
a. medium to light crop being
harvested, although the quality is
better than had been anticipated
two or three weeks ago. Beans
and sugar beets ere making fine
growth and the corn looks very
well. Canning peas have been
very hard hit by the drought.

COUNTY COUNCIL
SETS SCHOOL
BOUNDARIES
A special meeting of Huron
County Council called to define
certain high school districts, was
held in Goderich with Warden
John W. Armstrong presiding.
With Reeve George Armstrong
of Hay in the chair, the report
of the consultaitve committee was
taken up clause by clause. The
following recommendations were
adopted unanimously by the
committee: .
"That a portion of Morris Town-
ship be added to Clinton High,
School district; that a part of
Morris Township be added to
Seaforth High School district;
that a portion of Grey Township
be attached to Seaforth High
School district; and that parts of
Grey and Morris Townships, and
all of Brussels, be added to
Wingham High School district."
Reeve Harvey Johnston, Mor-
ris Township, went on record with
a request that the south half of
sections 5 and all of 6, 7, end 8
north half, being added at this
time, be allowed to become part
of Seaforth High School district,
should the ratepayers request
such q move, if and when the
Brussels school should close.
The recommendetion of the
committee that no action be tak-
en on the request of West Wa-
wanosh Township, that it be al-
lowed to withdraw from the
Wingham district, caused some
debate,
Reeve E. Finnigan vigorously
opposed this recommendation. He
said that 135 citizens of the town-
ship had presented a petition to
the township council to request
the county council to allow the
withdrawal, as they wished to go
in with Lueknow.
By a vote of 14-10 the council
endorsed a motion by Reeves E.
Finnigan and F. Bainton, auth-
orizing the withdrawal of the
north' half of West Wawanosh
front the Winghem area.
An amendment by Reeves J.
Stirling of Goderich Township
end S. Snyder of Colborne, that
the Wingham. high school district
boundaries be left over to the
November session, when the con-
sultative committee could present
a full report after canvassing the
ratepayers, was lost on division,
9-14.
By-laws authorizing the bound-
aries were passed.
The warden asked that the sym-
pathy' of the council be extended
the the families of the late V. IX
Falconer of Clinton, and the late
John Finglend, Hullett, former
members of County Council.
