An enthusiastic meeting of
Huron Football Association held
in the
Community Hall, Walton,
re-elected. James Carlin, Beech-
wood, as president for the coming
season. Kenneth Betties was
named vice-president and A. W.
Dick, Secretary -treasurer.
The protest committee is: Geo.
Milne, Brussels; George Dunbar,
Ethel; James Hulley, Atwood;
Flying Officer 1'/o Jones, Clin-

The meeting passed that ell
players must be signed by June
15, and a ruling was made that
no person can be registered with
the Huron League if he is' regis-

Campaign. at Zurich
For Com'unity Centre
The drive for an arena and
community centre for Zurich and
district, which includes Hay and
Stanley Townships, began Mon-
day. The centre will provide, in
addition to an ice surface 70x170,
an auditorium, and rooms will be
available for teen-agers, various
groups in town and eountry,
Federation of Agriculture, Wom-
en's Institute, and others.
The project wilt cost $45,000,
and it is estimated government
subsidies will amount to $10,000.
Donation from Zurich Lions Club
will be $10,000 by the end of the
summer when its annual frolic
ends. The remaining $25,000 is
to be made up by public sub-
scription.
WALTON ORGANIZES
Walton Football Club held its
annual meeting in the Commun-
ity Hall, Walton, Thursday, with
a large attendance. Officers
elected are: manager, Bill Den -
ins; assistant manager, Ed. David-
son; treasurer, P. Holman; assist-
ant treasurer, R. Travis; field
committee, R. Travis, S. Humph-
ries, H. Travis, H. Bolger, E.
Davidson; equipment committee,
S. Humphries, W. C. Bennett, W.

GIRLS PLAY BOYS
Grade 4 boys defeated grade 6
girls in a game on Friday last,
by a score of 29-16. Boys team
was: Frank MacDonald, Bev
Boyes, Ron Hugild, Doug Mann,
John Morgan, Cecil Carrick,
Peter Melelis, John Hunter and
Doug, Batkin. Girls' lineup was:
Kay Sharp, Jeanette Melelis,
Joan Warnock, Marilyn Shaddick,
Marie Lee, Yvonne Dales, Betty
Fitzsimons, Marilyn Martin and
Doris Cooper.
Blyth Will Field
WOAA Softball Team
A softball meeting was held in
Blyth and Mr. Spieran's offer to
sponsor this year's intermediate
softball entry was accepted.
Mr. Spieran also was appointed
manager of the team, with other
officers to be named at a later
date.
Bert Gray acted as chairman
of the meeting which developed
into a round -table discussion of
the pros and cons of the coming
season. ,

Londesboro Loses
Exhibition Softball

Londesboro B -A's lost an ex-
hibition softball game 11-6 to
Speiran's Dukes of Blyth, in Blyth
on Monday night.
Blyth took the lead in the first
inning, collecting seven runs but
from

on Londesboro
ened down and only allowed tthem
four more runs during the game.
Wallace, Crpickshanks and
Lockwood each got homers for.
Blyth during the game.
Carte• and Riley shared the
pitching duties for Londesboro,
while Taras and Tunney were on
the mound for Blyth.

so the meeting was

who hes graciously consented to
