(By our Bayfield correspondenh) A former well-known Landon businessman, . oseph A.- Beeehie, 61, was found dead at Bayfield Friday, April 29. Death was attributed to a heart attack, The former manager of the Hunt Milling Corporation had lived retired in Bayfield for the past 12 years, George Stevenson, working at a house across from the Beechie residence, heard the radio blar- ing loudly all day. He 'saw a •load of wood deliver l but no e one answered the door. Finally, Stevenson got a ladder and look- ed through a window. He saw Mr. Beechie's body lying on a bed, He called Constable Jack Park, who summoned provincial .police from Goderich. Dr. F, W. Gallow, Goderieh coroner, attributed death to natural causes and released the boGoderich- Provincial Constables A. Butler and William Gardiner invesligeted. Mr. Beeehie's wife and two children survive, at 89 Thornton Avenue, London. ' Mr. Beechie retired from the Hunt Milling firm in May, 1937, after 32 years' service, He start- ed with the firm at agefue of 17, end in 1917 was made sales and plant manager. Under his guidance, the business became known from Winnipeg, to Halifax. Following the fire which de- stroyed the Hunt mill in 1925, Mr. Eeechie took over complete con- trol of the mill and"its property, He directed the task of restoring the plant to its former state. The mill and employees' homes located near -by always will re- main a monument to his ingenuity. When asked on his retirement what was the greatest thrill of his business career, Mr. Beechie remarked: "Being able to keep the plant busy during the depres- sion years aed not having to lay off any of the employees." Requiem Mass was sung in St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, Goderich, on Monday morning, and the remains taken to London for interment. Pallbearers were: Charles Shan- ahan and William Ross, Clinton; Jack Fraser, Maynard Corrie, J. H. DONALD (IRASSICK Mrs. Donald Grassick, 92, who died Thursday lest, May 5, in the Ruston Nursing Home, Mitchell, was born in Stanley Township and moved to Hensel 43 years ago. Surviving are two sons, James, Exeter; Charles, North Bay; two daughters, Mrs. George Walker, Hensall, and Mrs. D. Ferguson, Toronto. Fneral services were held from the home of her daughter, Mrs, George Walker, Saturday afternoon, May 7, and Rev. P. A. Fergusbn officiated. Mr. Snell received minor injuries and a severe shaking up but had no bones broken. Considerable dem- age was done to the buggy. Tony VonEgmond is laid up this week with a very painful foot. He was splitting wood when the Kock slipped and the axe went through his shoe and cut the top of his foot rather badly. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Bartliff, are visiting in Brussels.
