Bryant and granddaughter, London, occupied their cottage over . the weekend, Miss Jean Sturgeon, Mitchell; was with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Sturgeon over the week- end, Mr. and Mrs. Robinson who occupied W. L. Ferguson's cottage for the winter, moved into one of Brisson's apartments on Sat- urday. Mr. and Mrs. Robert MacLeod, Goderich, spent Sunday with the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. H. MacLeod. Mrs. J. Atkinson and Stewart Atkinson, St. Clair Shores, Mich., decupled their home in the vil- lage over the weekend. Mrs. R. H. F. Gairdner, Mrs. James R. Scott and little Miss Katie Scott, visited Mrs. H. Scott, Seaforth, Monday and Tuesday, Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Poth and Ronnie, Kitchener, spent the weekend with Mrs. Poth's parents, Mr. and Mrs. William R. Jowett. Jack Guthrie, who is *stationed at the RCAF R. and C. School, Clinton, has moved his family into one of the Brisson apart- ments. Miss Tena Baird, Brumfield, has been with her ,cousins, Mrs. J. Ross and Hugh Gilmour, ow- ing to the illness and subsequent death of Miss Gilmour. Mr. and Mrs. William L. Fer- guson returned to their home in the village on Monday after hav- ing spent the winter in Sudbury with their sons, John and Charles, Mr, end Mrs. 13, M. Hendrie and three children left on Saturday for Lethbridge, Alta., after hav- ing occupied Dr. R. G. Hunter's house while the former was sta- tioned at the RCAF R. and C. School, Clinton, Mrs. George Reid, Flaxcombe, Sask., arrived on Friday to visit her mother, Mrs. W. J. Stinson. It is 22 years since Mrs. Reid last visited the old home `town"• and many changes have taken place in that time. Keith Leonard, $t. Lambert, Que,,, and E. A. Featherston, Lon- don, spent the weekend at the latter"s home in the village. Mas- ter Ray Leonard, who spent the week with his grandmother, Mrs. Featherston, having gone to Guelph to meet him the first of last week, returned to St, Lam- bert with his father. Operating from Bayfield I3, Meisner and Sons, Bob Smith and Newton Sturgeon, all of Port Dover, came into port last week on the former's fishing tug and are operating from .Bay- field for the whitefish season, Trinity Guild Meets The regular monthly meeting of the Guild of Trinity Churbh was held at the home of Mrs. N W. Woods on Thursday after- noon last. The Rector, Rev. La - Verne Morgan, opened with pray- er end the president, Mrs, Byrd Sturgeon, conducted the business session. Mrs. Sam McEwen read the minutes of the lest meeting and Miss Lucy Woods reported the balance in the treasury. Fol- lowing the Benediction the host- ess served tea. Church Women Meet A largely attended meeting of the women of the United Church was held on Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Robert Scotchmer. The WMS was conducted by the 2nd vice-president, Mrs. Har- vey Hohner, and Mrs. Campbell gave a splendid talk on "Easter." The secretary reported °hyvirig received a receipt from the F'om- en's Inter -church Council of Can- ada for the sum of $5,40, the of- fering on the World's Day of Prayer. To Present Cantata The choir of Brumfield United church will present the Easter Cantata, "Life Eternal," at 8.30 o'clock on Good Friday evening, The Cantata will immediately follow a reception for new mem- bers uniting with the church, whichservice will be held at eight o'clock. Able to Leave Hospital Mrs. J, Berry has been able to leave Seaforth Hospital and return to her home in the vil- lage. Mrs. A. Caldwell has also been able to leave Clinton Pub- lic Hospital and is convalescing at the home of her son, Bill. Easter Thankoffering Next Sunday evening, the WMS will hold its Easter Thank - offering service. The speaker will be Rev. Franklin Wu, of West Chino, All in the commun- ,resident, Mrs. Martins, A num- rer of towels and aprons for the bazaar were received, also sev- eral contributions to the birth- day box. Arrangements were dtscussed for having the church spring - cleaned, the new carpet laid and the lawn mowed; also the com- mittee was re -appointed to place flowers in the church during the next few months. Mrs. William Mills, Blyth, visited with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Townsend on Friday last, Mrs. Will Mills, Blyth, visited at the home of Mrs, Robert Townsend one day last week. Mrs. William Gray is spending a few weeks at the home of her son, Eph, Gray, Palmerston. Mr, and Mrs. Bill Rileynd little daughter, Hensall, visited with Mrs, Watson on Sunday. Miss Mary Ellen Prest, Mitchell, spent the weekend at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Prest. Mr. and Mrs. John McCowan, Phyllis and Shirley, Porter's Hill, spent Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George McVittle. Mr. McCiay and Miss Lillie Cartwright, Stratford, visited with Mrs. L. Easter Cantata A cantata, "The Easter Revela- tion", will be put on in the Unit- ed Church on Easter Sunday morning at 10.30 o'clock under the auspices of the Mission Circle, assisted by choir. Minister ID Benson Sutter, Clkntor,; took the service in the United Church on Sunday morning owing to ill- ness of 'Rev. S. H, Brenton, who was unable to take charge, We wish Mr. Brenton a speedy re- covery. Returns from Hospital Mrs. George Moon, who has been a patient in Victoria Hos- pital, London, for several weeks, and returned from the hospital on Saturday is now being taken care of at the home of her dau- ghter, Mrs. Moodyllolland, Blyth, Easter Caattata An Easter Cantata will be pre- sented at the Sunday morning church service, at 10.30 o'clock, by the Mission Circle and the Choir. This will be the Easter Thankofferfng meeting of the Mission Circle, An extra large attendance is hoped for as the crevice throughout promises to be very interesting and inspiring.e Mission Circle Meets The Aimwell Mission Circle held its regular Monthly meet- ing at the home of Miss Frances Lyon on April 5, with the presi- dent, Lois Wood, in the chair, The meeeting was opened with hymn 100, followed by the Lord's Prayer in unison. Gail Manning read the scripture. The treasur- er's report: was then given. The roll call was answered with a Bible verse' beginning with A. The minutes were read and adopt- ed. Mrs, Charles Merrill invited the group to her home for the May meeting. The offer•ieg, was taken up, durekg which Lois Wbod and Thelma Shobbrook sang a duet, Helen Lee read a temper- ance story, hymn 91 was then sung, Ruth Shaddiek read a let- ter from a Chinese Missionary, Dr. Stella Chang. Hymn 104 was then sung. Lois Wood closed the meeting with a prayer. Play Well Received The choir presented their play The Improper Henry , Proper," last Friday evening to a large and appreciative audience.
