Juniors ' Lose
(Byl R. S. Atkey)
Clinton Col'l'egiate Institute
Junior basketball team advanced
further along the WOSSA champ-
ionship. trail than any other CCI
team ever did, when Coach N.
W. .K.inach's charges bowed to
London De La Salle 35-16 in a
sudden -death Junior "B" match
for the title on the H. B. Beal
Technical' School floor in Lon-
don Saturday evening.
The Clinton kids previously
had eliminated St. Marys, Han-
over and Petroilia, after captur-
ing the Huron Secondary Schools
Association title. It was a long,
hard season for the boys, and
certainly . one that was Most
creditable.
The team was accompanied by
a large number of supporters
who made themselves well heard
during the game, assisted by Ex-
eter and a few other schools from
near and far. Incidentally, Ex-
eter Seniors lost their sudden=
death match to Tillsonburg by
the close score of 24-22.

IPLAY17D::IN STRATFORD
Six members dr Clinton "Bad-
minton Club joined a team rep-
resenting Seaforth Badminton
Club in a friendly match with a
team representing Stratford Bad-
minton Club in Stratford last
evening. They were Misses Lois
Connell and Helen Taylor, and
Charles •Johnson, Bob ' Miller,
Lyle McKee and Bob Maxwell,
who . moved to Stratford -this
week: Seaforth won.
Beal Technical floor was the
home court of • DeLaSalle and
was much larger than the Clin
tonians were accustomed to, the
CCI boys made e. good showing.
They were down only one point-.-
9-8—at half time, after Doin'Epps
had been banished from *10 gam
for having had five fouls 'against
him. In the latter half, his ab-
sence weakened the team con-
siderably, chiefly through lack of
reserve strength.
The DeLaSalle lads were much
taller and. bigger than' the local
yowigsters, end many spectators
Were of the dpinion they should
be playing in Junior "A" comp-
any rather than Junior "B."
The new champions led Clinton
18-12 at the three-quarter mark,
but outscored the locals 17-4 in
the final quarter when CCI weak-
ened badly.
