GODERICH 14-6;`i
BARTLIFF STARS
(By Howard • Cowles) •
Clinton Colts "staggered" the
Goderich Kinsmen last Friday
evening by. a :score of 14-6, be-
fore a very small crowd,, the
smallest the Colts have drawn
for some years.
The play was ,sloppy and slow,
in spite of the fact that the ice
was fast. Doug Bartliff and Bob
Miller were outstanding players
for the Clinton team, Bartiiff
tallying six goals and one assist;
Miller gave the spectators more
than enough thrills in the goal,
stopping some hot ones that most
people didn't see until he, had
them in his glove,
The game was very clean with
only one penalty going to Bill
Counter for tripping.

COLTS DEFEAT
WELLESLEY 5-4
IN "SLUSHY" SET
(By Howard Cowles!
Clinton Colts trimmed Welles-
ley Royals Monday . evening in
Clinton Lions Arena by 5-4 in a
"slushy" hard-fought game. The
soft ice made passing; plays al-
most impossible in ,the first per-
iod, but as the game progressed,
play became faster with Colts
holding the edge. The Wellesley
defensive play wasn't up to par,'
while the Colts" was . good.
Bob Miller put on a grand per-
formance in the ,Clinton net,
stopping much more , thein' his
share. Goals scored against him
were mostly from scrambles . in,
front of the goal.
Lichty was Wellesley's star,
scoring two goals. He set up
many good plays.
0
ARTIFICIAL ICE
At a special meeting of Wing -
ham Curling Club, over 100 mem-
bers were in attendance to pro-
pose the subject of artificial ice
for the curling rink. Members
were in favor of the idea, and
committees were formed.

RCAF EKES OUT.
VICTORY BY 6.5
OVER WELLESLEY
(By Harold "Mac" Maolver).
A thrilling and closely Fought
battle between Clinton RCAF and
Welleisley was wilne•'od ' v a
sell-out crowd on the letter's
home ioe last Friday night. Qniy
two minor. penalties were handed
out by Gordon Muir, Sealortp,
both to the : home team.
The game was not decided un-
til the last twenty seconds.' It
was a foregone conclusion that
it would end in a tie contest,
until Grant C1erlt-Marlow stole
theppck at the enemy blue line
end passed .to • brother Keith who
broke in the clear and cleanly
pierced the twine behind Jones
in the Wellesley net.
The first period was evenly
fought with the air force lads the
more aggressive, taking a com-
manding three goal lead at the
end of the initial 20 minutes, The
second period was a reversal of
form with Wellesley pestering
Schneider consistently,• it appear -
that the air force defence was
lapsing at times and Schneider
did not have the needed support
from the rearguard. W. Arnold
led the home club with able sup-
port from N. Lichty who was the
high scorer for both teams on
the night's play.
