Night" when a very enjoyable

The highlight of the evening
was an address on "Russia's gifts
to civilization by Rev. Gordon
Hern, rector of the Church of
St. Marys the Virgin, Toronto,
who was introduced very fitting-
ly by G. Ralph Foster.
Rev, Mr. Hern's address proved
most interesting , and explana-
tory of Russia's ancient culture
and literature. He paid tribute
to the great Rusian novelist,
Dostoevsky, and to the friendli-
ness of the Russian people as in-
dividuals, He did not touch on
the politics of the country, how -

its regular, meeting in the Board
Room of the Agricultural Office
with the president, Mrs. C.
Sturdy, in the chair. The reg-
ular reports were given.
Miss Elva Wiltse favoured the
ladies with two very lovely solos.
Mrs. E. Adams gave a report on
the recent convention held in
London. Mrs, Fred Hanley gave
an excellent demonstration of
ironing a man's shirt. Mrs. W.
S. R. Holmes in her demonstra-
tion showed mending with the
Speedway Darner, Mrs. A. F.
Cudmore, from practical exper-
ience, geve a most interesting talk
en Bees. Other demonstrations
were given by lyirs. Taylor on
crocheting and Mrs, Nelson on
fancy cookies.

evening's programme. Ross Mer-

votional period and spoke on
"The Church and What it Means
to Us."
Florence Symons played a piano
instrumental, Lois Wiltse, the
president, took charge of the
business period. Two very inter-
esting religious contests were
conducted. Eleanor and Eileen
McCartney; Brucefield, played a
piano duet which was very much
enjoyed.
Refreshments were served and
the evening brought to a close
with the singing of "taps,"

packing of a Christmas box to
be sent to the Endeavour Mission
in Seskatchewan. Plans were
also completed for the Christmas
party which was being held at the
Rectory on Wednesday, Decem-
ber 8, at which time each mem-
ber was to bring a 25 cent gift.
The members spent the evening
sewing quilt patches.
