WESLEY-WILLIS GIRLS' CLUB
The regular meeting of Wesley-
Willis United Church Girls' Club
will be held in the Church Par-
lour, on Tuesday evening, October
12, at eight o'clock. Mrs. Cree
Cook will be in charge and Miss
L. Morley, Detroit, Mich., will be
the guest speaker.

Clinton Juniors Farmers and
Junior Institute will hold their
regular meetings in the Clinton
Collegiate Institute on Tuesday,,
October 12. Girls are asked to

Mothers' Study Group,
Holds Fine Meeting
The theme running through the
Young ; Mothers' : Study Group
me§ting of Wesely-Willis United
Church Tuesday" evening last was
"Woman's great opportunities ip
life, in general, render then''
more responsible for war than
men." The presentations on the
theme and the discussions that
followed were Of very high order
and proved :most applicable to
duties of mothers of to -day.
Mrs. F/G. Lawrence ahiy con-
ducted this very worthy Meet-
ing. Mrs. Gordon Horner and
1Vdrs. C. Hugill assisted their host-
ess, Mrs. N, W. Trewartha during
the social period which is like-
wise a very enjoyable ending to
an evening over the teacups.
The October meeting will be
held at the home of Mrs. Frank
Andrews with Mrs, Glen Lock-
hart in charge of the program,
Every young mother is invited
to pla4 to be present at these
gatherings.
The annual bale \for babes and
small children is expected to be
shipped as early as itis possible,

Club Hears Minister
The Girls' Club of Wesley -
Willis Church,' held its regular
meeting on Tuesday evening,
September 14 in, the church par-,
idur. The president, Miss W.
O'Neil Was in the chair with Mrs.
111, Agnew at the piano,
The meeting opened with a ,
hymn and call to worship by the,
president; followed by the Lord's
Prayer In unison. It was`decided
that a Thenkoffering meeting
would be held jointly with WMS.
Mrs, Wm, McEwen took charge of
the program, Mrs. Haddy read
the Scripture lesson and a piano
solo "Dream. of Youth.", was giv-
en by Miss June Miller. Rev.
A. Lane was guest speaker and
gave a most interesting discourse,
on the book of Ecclesiastes. Mrs.
Jeffersonextended a vote of ap-I
prociaticn and thanks to Mr. Lane
and all taking part in the pro-
gram,
Recent; Bride Feted
At Pre -Nuptial Events
Mrs. Donald Crich, the former
Miss Margaret Lobba bride of
Saturday last, was honoured 'at
several pre -nuptial events.
The Ebenezer Y.P.U. honoured
Miss Lobb at the home of Mr,
and Mrs. Arthur Hebden on,Tues-
day, September 21:Following
the regular meeting the members
were taken into the dining room
where the table was decorated
With pink and white streamers,
andat the end of each streamer
was a gift. The bride -elect was
placed in a special chair and im-
mediately was put to work un
loading the table. After the many
lovely gifts were displayed, Mar-
garet replied fittingly, and the
group joined in singing "For she's
a jolly good fellow". Those pre-
sent were then attracted to the
kitchen by the golden cobs of
corn, delicious watermelon and
cookies which were served.
Neighbours -.of the Maitland and
16th concessions numbering a-
bout 70 gathered at the home of
Mr. and Mrs, . W. R. Lobb on Fri-
day evening, September 24, to
PRESBYTERIAN GIRLS' CLUB
The Girls' Club of Clinton
Presbyterian Church will meet at
the home of Mrs. W. J. Mutch on.
Tuesday, October 12, at 8 p.m.
Mrs. E. J. Jacob will be co-
hostess.

called forward and an address
was read by Mrs. Frank Jones and
on behalf of the community Mrs.
Jack Merrill and Miss Josephine
Muir presented her with a'beaut-
iful oak table. Miss Lobb ex-
pressed her appreciation for the
gift end all joined in 'singing "For
she's a jolly good fellow". Lunch
was' served bringing an enjoyable
evening to a close.
Mrs. Alvin ',ebb, assisted' by
Mrs. Frank Lobb, were hsotesses
to about' 25 friends and relatives

were enjoyed the winners being
Mrs. Charles. Nelson and Mrs.
Frank Layton. A. large decorated
basket of prettily -wrapped gifts
was then placed before the sur-
prised bride-to-be, who assisted
by her sister, Miss Grace Lobb,
untied the numerous knots and
displayed many lovely gifts. The
bride -elect expressed her appre-
ciation to those who had planned
Ithe evening and also to those who
had given her so many, gifts.
Dainty refreshments rounded out
a happy evening. •
