Irish Nine in three group semi-
final games, Clinton Colts are
now engaged in the Huron -Perth
OBA Intermediate "C" finals with
either Hensel]. or Centralia RCAF,
identity of the latter to be known
tonight.
Hensall or Centralia will play
here tomorrow (Friday) evening
at five o'clock sharp in the first
game of the group finals, In case
of rain, delaying either tonight's
match at Hensall or tomorrow's
match here, the first final will
be played in Clinton Community
Park at 3 p.m. Saturday.,
The return match will be play-
ed either at Hensall or Centralia
RCAF on Monday or Tuesday

Clinton Wins Protest
As stated in last week's NEWS_
RECORD, Colts protested'the
game at Lucan Wednesday even-
ing last, and at the protest meet-
ing held in Hensel], Thursday
evening, the executive voted that
it should be replayed. Lucan
had won it 6-4. This was replay-
ed -Monday evening.

Before a large crowd, Colts
showed no mercy to the Irish
here Friday evening last, win-
ning 16-5. Bob Craig pitched a
heady game for the winners.,

Colts won the replay of' the
protested match Monday, 16-7. A
large crowd attended the game,
many of them being from Clinton
and district,
Lucan went into an early lead
and led 5-1 at the end of the
fifth inning. However, in the
sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth,
Colt bats went abooming, and
the early figures were badly re-
versed.
Bob Draper pitched lovely ball
for the winners and was provided
good support by his team mates.
Bill Cook was credited with
five safe hits in five official trips
to the plate—and that is some-
thing!

Londesboro Wins
First Round Robin

Fordwich "Whippers" lost the
opening game of the WOAA
Group 5 round robin series 28-4
to Londesboro in Blyth on Thurs-
day night last,
Although Higgins, the pitcher
for Fordwich, had a bad night, he
was not altogether responsible for
this loss as he was given very
poor support by his team mates.
He was relieved in the seventh
by Scheafer.
Carter pitcher all the way for
Londesboro. Pollard, Leiper and
Saundercock got homers for
Londesboro.

Miss McEwen travelled, exten-
sviely by plane and train during
her year abroad and" declared, es

Holland, Germany, Switzerland,
France, Italy, England, and, of

example Hamlet's castle at Elsin-
ore.

The first annual sports days is
being held at RCAF Station,
Clinton, on Wednesday, Septem-
ber 15. It' will be an all -day
event; and admission is free to all
track and field events and ball
games. The general public is
given a cordial invitation .to at-
tend.

At Western Fair
The outstanding race event of
Canada—the . Canadian Standard
Bred Horse Society Futurity for
two- and three-year-old trotters
and pacers—has been booked for
the 'Western Fair, London, Sept.
13 to 18. The Fair promises a
week of racing featured by the
cream of Ontario and Quebec
horses, with a total of $11,000 in
prize money.
