seer for Oxford County, it was

Life Division, Department of
Lands and Forests, Mr. Harris
succeeds Ted Shaddock, Inger-

Drop Fire Protection
Lack of interest by the rate-
payers has caused Blyth Munic-
ipal Council to shelve its plans
for improved fire protection. At
a meeting of council, Reeve Frank
Bainton stated that, as there had
not been much interest shown by,
the ratepayers in the proposed
project, he felt that the people of
Blyth must be satisfied with the
present fire protection. In view of
that, he felt that an expenditure
of approximately $30,000 should
not be undertaken or approved by
the council itself, and, suggested
that the matter be set aside until
the ratepayers take more interest.
A motion was passed that "due
to lack of interest re fire protect-
ion, it be aside for the present
time and that the Municipal
Board be advised of this action".
Councill decided to have some
!resurfacing done on No. 4 high-
way. Since the province is having
its portion of. the ' highway
through the village resurfaced,
Council plans to have the balance
done extending from the province
owned portion to the curb on
what is known as Queen st.
Permission' was granted to have
pipe laid on Dinsley and Coombe
sts. A deputation with Frank
Tyreman as chairman, supported
by A. Taylor and W. N. Watson,
waited upon Council to point Out
the need for,. the work. The group
was granted permission to lay
the pipe according to, plans to pe
