ZURICH BY 7-2;
SWEET REVENGE
Backed by fair ,.support, Bob
Draper set. Zurich down 7-2 in a
Huron -Perth Baseball League
scheduled match in Clinton Com-
munity Park! Monday evening with
Clinton Colts. It was sweet re-
venge for` the loss suffered by the
Colts at Zurich in the first game
of the season.
This victory, and Hensall's win
7-2 at home the same evening,
vaulted Colts and Hensall into a
tie for first place in the league
standing, each team having ten.
wins, two losses and one : tie
match, for a
-
win an d 1o per-
centage
er-
centae of .833.
The visitors drew first blood
with a soft counter in the first
frame when Krueger scored after
walking and advancing on Stade's
single and errors by Cook and
Colquhoun. That seemed to 'be
the bad inning, the Colts had to
get out of their collective systems,
although loose play yielded up
Zurich's second run in the eighth.
Draper actually should have had
a shut -out. He struck out nine
in eight frames, walked three and
hit one.
Carl Heideman, on the losers'
mound, deserved better than 'a
break like seven runs scored
against him. He fanned 11 bat-
ters in seven innings. Colts did
some solid hitting, it is true, but
important errors crept in just a
the wrong time.
Colts' slugging should not b
discounted, however, Clarene
Neilans being top man with'
double 1e
s r a i
and
single a bunt,
"Blondy" .Cook, relieving at sec -
and base• for Harry McEwan, off
on his honeymoon, had two singles
and a walk and drove in. two
runs. Although he fanned three
times, Bob Miller. clicked for a
single in the fifth, knocking in
two runs. The bottom end of the
order did its full share of the
work.
