FROLIC IN CLINTON, FRIDAY,
3. GEORGE 19IcLAY
Weather Conditions
Favorable to Crops
Weather conditions within the
last month, although variable,
have been favorable to fruit and
vegetable crops in Ontario, the
provincial fruit and vegetable
statistics committee announces in
a seasonal crop report.
There has been general freedom
from insect and fungi infestation
in Western Ontario and only dam-
age reported from some localized
areas has been winter injury to
peaches and plums.
Recent warm weather in West-
ern Ontario has more than count-
eracted adverse vegetable grow-
ing conditions prior to the first
week of June. With few excep-
tions, all crops have shown steady
growth. Acreage increases are
reported in early potatoes, spin-
ach, corn and early cabbage.
