The WMS. of Wesley -Willis
United Church met at the home
of. Mrs. J. P. Manning on Thurs-
day afternoon, March 11, with a
very good attendance.
With the president, Mrs. B. C.
Hearn, in the chair, and Mrs. E.
Adams at the piano, the meeting
opened by singing a hymn, and
prayer offered by the president.
The minutes of the last meeting
were read by Mrs. A. T. Cooper
and the treasurer's report read
and adopted by Mrs. Frank Fing-
land.
The Friendship Secretary re-
ported 20 calls made on the sick
and shut-ins. Mrs. N. W. Tre-
wartha reported for the Baby
Band and Young Mothers' Club
meetings. A letter was read from
Miss Sybil Courtice of • Japan
thanking the ladies of the W.M.S.
for the lovely box of food and
clothing which was sent to her,
and which was very much ap-
preciat d,
At the close of the business dis-
cussion, Mrs. Manning's group
took charge of the study period.
The Worship service from the
February Missionary Monthly
was used, with Mrs. Chowen, Mrs.
Fingland and Mrs. Pickard as-
sisting.
The Study Book, "Great is the
Company," the tenth chapter en-
titled "No Trespassing" was ably
presented by Mrs, Fingland. A
beautiful solo, "Just a little word
of Love" was sung by Mrs. Man-
ning's sister, Mrs, Chesney, Sea -
forth, and was much appreciated
by all.

berta and New Brunswick. She
was a pupil of Elizabeth S. Haynes
in the famous Stanislasky Method
in Dramatics just previous to the
war. Organ and violin solos and
duets will be given by Mrs. M. J.
Agnew and Cpl. A. R. Persan. No
admittance except between acts.

The parsonage of the United
Church, Egmondville, was the set-
ting for a quiet but pretty wed-
ding Wednesday morning, March
10, 1948, when Anna Margaret,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John
S. Watson, Seaforth, was united
in marriage to Warden Emmerson
Haney, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mat-
thew Haney, Tuckersmith. Rev.
A. W. Gardiner officiated.
The bride wore a powder blue
mocraine crepe dress in street -
length style, made with deep v -
neckline and peplum of French
lace. Her corsage was of Sweet-
heart roses and her only ornament
was a double strand of pearls, a
gift of the bridegroom. The couple
were .unattended. '
Club Hears Talk
The Girls' Club of Ontario St.
United Church met on Thursday
evening last. Supper was served
in the Church hall after which
the regular meeting was held at
Miss Grant's home.
The president opened the meet-
ing with " a reading, "Among us,
still unseen." The devotional
period was conducted by Miss
Judd, the theme being "The.Cruci-
fixion and Resurrection." Busi-
ness was dealt with.

Immediately after the ceremony
Mr, and Mrs. Haney left on a
honeymoon trip to Toronto and
Northern Ontario. The bride chose
for traveling a black crepe dress
with sequin trim, and a flared -
back' coat of powder blue with
black accessories.
Upon their retruned they will
reside on the bridegroom's farm
in Tuckersmith.

Mrs. Cochrane, Pretoria, South
Africa, who along with her hus-
band and little girl are making
their home with Mrs. A. Seeley,
High St., told many interesting
things about the customs and
modes of living in her native
country. She stated that she lik-
ed Canada• very much although
she thought it was a little cold.
They have no snow in her country'
but about this time of year they
do have some frost. It was sug-
gested that some of the Clinton
Ladies might like to pay a visit
to this family.

A missionary reading was given
by Miss E. Wiltse on the life of
George A. Darby, telling of his
work as a physician, minister and
judge on the Wesst-roast, Miss E.
'Levis played, two piano solos.
Readings were given by Miss E.
Plumsteel, Mrs. D. M. Maltby,
from the writings of Dr. Wallace.
Miss E. Pepper rendered two solos,
"Rose of Tralee" and "I'll take
you home again, Kathleen." A
sing -song of Irish songs, conduct-
ed by Miss E. Wiltse, brought to
a close an enjoyable programme.

her group and a social half hour
was enjoyed.
