A very suwessful dance was hold
in the Town Hall on Friday evening
for the benefit of the Bayfield FireCompany.
Company. Music was by the Bayfield
Valley Five Circhestra. Miss .1VBildred
Westlake won the dor prize; let
[tot prize, was won by Roy Elliott
and partner; 2nd spOtlight dance was
1 won by Mr. and Mrs. Ohris Parker.
The birthday dance prize went to
Orville MeClinchey and Mrs. Walter
Westlake, whose birthdays are both
on February 28. The lunch mutter in
the basement TVEK4 well patronized.

Mrs. William Howard returned to

keturned to Detroit 'on Saturday.
The W. A. of Trinity Church met
on Thursday last at the home of the
Rector, Rev. LaVerne Morgan, who
conducted the religious exercises, Mrs.
E. Heard, President was 1 the ehair.

well-known Addie Murphy of the 16th

St. James' Annual Held
Tho annual business meeting of St.
James church, Middleton, was held at
the home of Stewart Middleton Tues-
day evening January 20th Thirty

chairman. The financial statement
was given by S. Middleton, showing
the Budget paid, all expenses met

earning year. The Rector's Warden
for 1948 is Charles Cooper, the Peep-

time was enjoyed. Winners at cards

In Toronto Hospital
We regret to report that Orrin
Howson, who has been on the sick list
for some tirne, is now 1 hospital in
Toronto for treatment. His many
friends hope for a speedy recovery.
Suffers Stroke
Tho many friends of Cecil Wiley,
an old Stanley boy (now of Detroit).
will be sorry to,learn that he suffered
a very severe stroke, and at time of
writing shows no improvement. His
only surviving sister, Mrs. Gertrude
Reid, Varna, is with him. We hope
for improventent.
Thanks for Stamps
Mrs. M. G. Beatty wishea to thank
those who so generously sent 1 used
stamps from Saskatchewan, Clinton,
Bayfield, and others who did not sign
their names. The item which was sent
1 was merely to let people know
what eon be done with what, itt many
cases, is just put 1 the fire. The
Upper Canada Bible Society- are very
grateful for these donations and re-
eeive all the benefits.(

The January meeting of the W.M.
S. was held at the home of Mrs. Ta-
lvener. Mrs. F. Mulholland had pre -

topic on the "Bible".
Letters of thanks for flowers, also
for Christmas baskets, were read from
Mrs. 3/1CH/whey and Charles Wilson.
A dad by Mrs, E. Potter and Mrs. E.
Grigg VMS enjoyed by all.Meeting
closed by singing a hymn and repeat-
ing the Lord's Prayer.
The meeting of the W,A, was held
the. same day with the new president,
Mrs. B. Trewartha, 1 the chair. The
leader read a. poem, and a prayer
written by Mrs. Harbert was read by
Mrs, Palmer.
