Mae and Mrs. G'. Griffiths, Stratford, visited recently with Mr. and Mrs. H. Berry. Mr. and Mrs. W. Stackhouse returned home Sunday after spending several day's, in London. Some from this oonmiunity at- tendned the reception for Mr. and Mrs. Fred McGregor in Seaforth Friday' night. -o Mr. and Mrs, Joe Yungblutt and Mr. and Mrs, Carl Longman and son George, visited Sunday with Miss Lillian Adams, Clinton. and are for old and young alike There are church services with all the beauty and inspira- tion of this season at its best , Practically every organization, whither connected with t he church or civic, has its Christmas party -often accompanied with exchange of gifts -and always in- cluding carol singing . , , A * ,K THE social whirl gets into full swing this time of year, for it is just one expression of a desire to see and talk to old friends and new . a a a INDEED, this is one of the few times in the year, when the gals and ladies are able to wear "formals" -what with the Col- legiate Christmas dance and 'the Hospital Auxiliary's Christmas Ball, both in the near future .. . And what gal, either young or old; exists, who does not love to get "dressed up"? Then, if ever, she is at her best and all set to make the most ofa joy- ous occasion - . AT the Officers' Mess at the RCAF Station Saturday evening, a pre -Christmas formal dance honored the graduates of TCO 7 The lounge of the mess, as usual, was most attractively de- corated with streamers, balloons -the latter placed to form : the initials of TCO 7 and a farewell in letters on the opposite wall We cannot remember when we have seen so many attractive and smart gowns as were in evi- dence , . Against a background of the' officers in their formal dress attire and civilians in white tie and tails, the brocades, taf- fetas, nylon net and satin of the graceful gowns of the ladies, made a colorful sight . Some of our gentlemen readers (if we have any)/ are going to resent that idea of being a mere back- ground . But gentlemen, you must admit that you cannot com- pete with your wife or the other ladies on an occasion like this It was a very gala evening and a delightful introduction to the Christmas season of parties.. a a a WE always have boasted that we never have seen a mouse -or - rat in the house since we owned a cat ... But we'll have to take that back , , . A short time ego we were interrupted by Pandora (an almost Persian) scratching at the door to come in . We opened the door for her and she tore in madly and dashed for the nearest bedroom, with Cleo- patra (a real Siamese)_ sensing some excitement, racing after her . . . We followed at a slower pace and found her under the bed with e mbuse wiggling in her mouth and Cleopatra trying to take it away from her , , a :r a EVENTUALLY Pandora releas- ed the mouse end both she and Cleo,, had fun playing, until the mouse, a bit annoyed .by then, decided to make a break Now, we felt was the time to intervene , . . Not liking the idea of a mouse on the loose we got some paper and very bravely, we encircled the mouse -which was undoubtedly wounded -and picked it up in the paper and took it outside and destroyed it , , DRINK Ef9C4.
