Peter Renner and son, Percy, Glen Brandon and Donald Campbell left on Sunday on a motor trip to Sault Ste. Oakville; spent Sunday in the village and visited with Mr. and Mrs. L. H. MacLeod. Mrs. C. Knuckey returned home on Thursday last after having spent three weeks at Aylmer, Quebec, and Toronto. P. Service, Well Attended The Remembrance Day 'Service, which was held ,in the United Church, was well attended. A teport is published elsewhere in this issue. Miss Joan Groves who has been the guest of Mrs. C. Lowery, Goderich, en route to British Columbia after having spent six weeks in England, visited Miss Lucy Woods for a couple of days last week. Rev. H. J. E. Webb was in Lon- don on Friday where he attend- ed the Dedication and formal opening of the new Huron College building recently" completed on the University of Western On- tario campus. On behalf of himself and his wife, Ken expressed thanks and appreciation for the beautiful gifts in a very gracious manner. Irwin's Orchestra played for the enjoyable dance which followed and lunch .was served in the base- ment. Trinity Club Meets The Trinity Clab met at the home of Mrs. Fred Weston on Tuesday evening of last week. Mrs. H. J. E. Webb opened the meeting by reading a passage of Scripture from St. Matthew, chapter 18, one verse of which— "But whom shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it was better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drown- ed in the depth of the sea"—set the theme for the meeting. There was a brief business,ses- sion in which it was decided to hold a Christmas party on the afternoon of December 11 from 2-4 o'clock for children of pre- school age. Favours and decora- tions will be, made at the next meeting to be held at the home of Mrs. Ted Mack, the first Tues- day in December. The president, Mrs. J. E. Hovey, introduced the guest speaker, Miss C. McGowan, Blyth, who is a socialservice worker on the staff of Huron County Children's Aid Society. Despite the storm and bad roads, and having to have her car hauled out of the ditch be- tween Bayfield and Clinton, Miss McGowan arrived on time to give a most interesting and compre- hensive account of the work of the Children's Aid Society and the acts of Parliament by which it is governed. She outlined the type of work being done in the county. For statistical purposes she chose the month of March last year when 480 calls were made besides all the other work. Those present were given an in- sight into the work of the Train- ing Schools 'at BowmanviIle, Guelph, 'Orillia, Cobourg and Georgetown and the important part they play in developing good citizens of the future. Miss McGowan's sympathy and enthusiasm for the work was caught by those present to whom new avenues of thought were opened as she told of sorrow and tragedy end the joy of being instrumental in placing little ones who come under the care of the Children's Aid Society in happy homes, or giving so -Called prob- lem children a fresh start in life. At the close of her address, the members decided to bring clean used c-lnthing, particularly babies 'garments, to the next meeting for the Huron Children's Aid Society. Stackhouse returned Monday, November 12, from a two weeks absence from the village. They .visited Mrs. Stackhouse's brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Mc- rich.
