Tuesday evening of last week.
Mrs. H. J. E. Webb opened the
meeting by reading a passage of
Scripture from St. Matthew,
chapter 18, one verse of which—
"But whom shall offend one of

the theme for the meeting.

day in December. The president,
Mrs. J. E. Hovey, introduced the
guest speaker, Miss C. McGowan,
Blyth, who is a socialservice
worker on the staff of Huron
County Children's Aid Society.
Despite the storm and bad
roads, and having to have her
car hauled out of the ditch be-
tween Bayfield and Clinton, Miss
McGowan arrived on time to give
a most interesting and compre-
hensive account of the work of
the Children's Aid Society and
the acts of Parliament by which
it is governed. She outlined the
type of work being done in the
county. For statistical purposes
she chose the month of March
last year when 480 calls were
made besides all the other work.
Those present were given an in-
sight into the work of the Train-
ing Schools 'at BowmanviIle,
Guelph, 'Orillia, Cobourg and
Georgetown and the important
part they play in developing
good citizens of the future.
Miss McGowan's sympathy and
enthusiasm for the work was
caught by those present to whom
new avenues of thought were
opened as she told of sorrow and
tragedy end the joy of being
instrumental in placing little ones
who come under the care of the
Children's Aid Society in happy
homes, or giving so -Called prob-
lem children a fresh start in life.
At the close of her address,
the members decided to bring
clean used c-lnthing, particularly
babies 'garments, to the next
meeting for the Huron Children's
Aid Society. Mrs. Weston was
assisted by Mrs. Brown Higgins
in serving refreshments,
