Ferguson at their cottage - over the weekend. Miss Josephine Stirling left on Tuesday with Mr. and Mrs. H. McLaren and Christine to spend a fortnight with them in Port Elgin, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Cook, Mr, and Mrs. Gene Bauer and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Huck, Waterloo, spent' the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Bauer. Mrs. M. J. Deidrich, Pittsburg, Pa., is visiting her sister, Mrs. L. Green. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Manuel, London, also came on Tuesday to be her guests at "Cloverly" cottage. We bid Mr. and Mrs. F. E. McFadden, London, who have purchased the Bayfield Hardware, welcome to our midst. They have been staying with Mr. and Mrs. Ted. Mack since the first of the month and will take possession as soon as stock -taking has been completed. Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Cook, Evanston, 411,, were at their cot- tage over the weekend. They went on to Toronto for a couple of days and were accompanied by the former's mother, Mrs. Cree Cook, who also travelled as far as Detroit with them to visit relatives there. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Brown, Riv- erside, and Bernard Reid, Wind- sor, were at "Enfield" cottage over the weekend. On their re- turn they were accompanied by the latter's mother, Mrs. A. W. Reid., who has been at her cot- tage for some weeks, and Mrs. J. Burns, who was her guest last week. After visiting relatives in Clinton and Goderich, Mr. and Mrs, Fred Eagleson, Aberdeen, S. Dakota, spent last week at the homes of the former's aunt, Mrs. John Davison and cousins. Nelson and Emerson Heard. Mr. Eaeie- son is a grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Eagleson of the village. Airmen Welcomed! Londesboro WI Meets The regular meeting of Lon- desboro WI was held in the Com- munity Hall with Blyth WI as guests. After the usual opening exer- cises, the Blyth ladies took over for a very enjoyable program. They invited the Londesboro ladies to a cooking school to 'be held Nov. 22 and 23. Mrs. Ben Taylor favored with some selections on her harmon- ica, Choruses were enjoyed by four ladies: Mesdames McCallum, Madill, Hamm and Taman, Mrs Petts gave some very impressive readings. Mrs. McDougal gave two very lovely piano selection's and Mrs. Harold Phillips songs two solos. Mrs. Fairservice introduced the guest speaker, Art Cartier, from The London Free Press. He gave a most interesting and education- al talk and showed many illust- rations on how the paper arrives in our home. He also sent out a cordial invitation for anyone to pay them a visit at any time, especially families, Goderieh Township 44+4 Mr. and Mrs. Harry Husband spent Saturday evening, guests of Mr. and Mrs. Abe Brannon, Clinton. SUMMERHILL Ladies' Club Meets The September meeting of the Summerhill Ladies' Club was held at the home of Mrs. Clar- bnce Ball, with 23 members and four visitors present. The meet- ing was opened by singing "Bringing in the Sheaves". fol- lowed by singing Lord's Prayer in unison. It was decided to hold an auc- tion bazaar September28, and "various committees were appoint- ed to look after details. The program ;consisted of a piano solo by Mrs, Clarence Ball and readings by Mrs. Rus- sell Good and Mrs. Arthur 'Hay- ward, The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Harold Lobb. Those on the lunch committee are Mrs. J. Rapson, Mrs. Fred Vodden, Mrs, Neville Forbes and Mrs. Clarence Ball. The program committee will be Mrs. Earl Blake, Mrs. Ivan Hoggart, Mrs. Wes. Hoggant and' Mrs. Billie Jenkins. many lovely linens wheeled in on a tea wagon. The hostess served a dainty lunch carried out in the bride's favorite colors, Friends and neighbours num- bering 30 gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Byrd Sturgeon to honor their daughter Norma. prior to her marriage, at a mis- cellaneous shower. Singing and dancing were enjoyed after which lunch was served. The staff and counsellors of Huron Church Camp, which Norma was assistant cook, held a surprise shower in the staff house prior to closing of camp and presented her with useful kitchen gifts. A lovely lunch was served at which the camp direct- or, W. Straw, carried in a beauti- fully decorated cake.
