Mitchell, spent last week in the
village and closed The Woollen
Shop for the season.
Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Featherston
returned to the village on Tues-
day of last week after having
motored to Montreal.
Mr. and Mrs. G. C. Church -
ward accompanied by Miss Lena
Shortt, London. were alt their
cottage over the weekend.

spending a few days with Misses

Mrs. J Sweeney and grand-
children, who occupied Dr. Till-
menn's cottage on the corner of
Hayfield Terrace and Marc. St.
for the season have returned to
Detroit.
Mrs, J. Burns, Windsor, is the
guest of Mrs. A. W. field at her
cottage this week. Miss Kathleen
Reid returned to Windsor with
her father and brother who were
here over the weekend.
Miss C. P. Rankin, Mrs. J. J.
Richardson, Mrs. Bruce Menerey
and Mrs. J. Ferguson, of Knox
Presbyterian WMS, attended the
meeting of the Huron and Mait-
land Presbyterial at Auburn on
Tuesday.
Mr. and Mrs. James A. Cam-
eron returned home on Friday
after having been in Toronto for
a few days. They were accomp-
anied by the formers daughter,
Mrs. Hugh. McPherson, who is
visiting with them.
Dr. and Mrs. W. J . Tillmann
and Mrs. J. E. Brent and children
returned to London last week.
Mrs. Brent and children go by
train to Montreal on Thursday
where they will board a plane
for their return trip to Paris,
France.
Mr. and Mrs. F. Pollock, Ind-
ianapolis, Indiana, visited Mr.
and Mrs. Milton Pollock and
family, Goshen Line, Stanley
Township, for a few days last
week and also spent a day with
her aunt, Mrs. Agnes Pollock,
Bayfield.
Miss C. P. Rankin accompanied
Mr. and Mus. Ledbeter on Fri-
day on a motor trip to Niagara
Fails, Niagara -on -the -Lake and
Dundas. They returned to the
village Saturday night, and Mr.
and Mrs. Ledbeter returned to
Mount Pleasant, Mich., Sunday.
Moving to Trenton
Sgt. Ted Davies was here on a
few days leave preparatory to
moving his family to RCAF Sta-
tion, Trenton. Sgt. and Mrs.
Davies, Wendy and Joan Davies
and Sharon and Gail Lindey
leave Thursday for Trenton. The
Davies have made many warm
friends here in almost four years
of residence who regret their de-
parture. Their contribution to
community activities will also be
missed.

Scholarship a scholarship pro-
vided by the late William Dick-

Latin and French. She was a
student in St:' Clements Colleg-
iate, Toronto, She plans to enter
Trinity College, University of To-
ronto, this autumn.
She is the elder daughter of
Dr. and Mrs. R. G. Hunter, To -
Tanto and Bayfield.
1.00 Miles a Day
Ross Pearce accompanied by
Charles Gordon, accountant and
inspector, respectively, of the
Dominion Bank staff, Vancouver,
B.C., spent from Monday until
Thursday of last week with the
former's mother, Mrs, F. C.
Pearce. They had left Vancouv-
er late in the sitternoon of the
previous Wednesday and arrived
in Leamington Sunday morning.
They travell"ed by automooile,
doing oboist 700 miles a day with
Ross at the wheel for the entire
trip.
United Church Meeting
The United Church women met
on Thursday last at the home of
Mrs. Roy Scotchiner, Bronson
Line, with a good attendance.
Vice-president Mrs. Wedlake
conducted the WMS meeting in
the absence of the president, Mrs.
Renner. Miss A. M. Stirling gave
an inspiring talk on "Steward-
ship of the Gospel." Arrange-
ments were made for a collection
of used clothing to be sent to
Korea under the Overseas Relief
plan. Those wishing to contribute
may leave their donations with
Mrs. Robert Seatchmer, any time
during September.
The ,WA heard reports of ac-
tivities during the summer and
planned for several autumn
events.
