Lions Lose to Elora
Must Win To -night
Clinton Lions fell down badly
in the pinches and, as a. result,
took an 8-3 licking from Elara-
Fergus Combines at Fergus Tues-
day afternoon in the first game
of the WOAA Midget "A" base-
ball finals.
Second game of the, best -in -
three series was scheduled to
take place in Clinton at 5.15 p.m.
today, ii'mt weather conditions
were not favorable and the
match was postponed until Sat-
urday, September 8, at 3.30 p.m.
Lions did not look as good a
team as they did in eliminating
Hanover New Lifers,' and gave
their moundsmen. indifferent
support on the diamond,
Ken Patterson started on the
hill for Clinton, and gave way to
southpaw Bob Carrick in the
fourth with one out .and two on
bases. Carrick walked his first
batter, but fanned the next pair
to end the rally which netted
Elora three counters. Carrick
yielded two runs in the fifth, but
from then on, it was a nice close
ball game.
Lions' seven hits came in the
latter' stages of the contest, but
they could not seem to tie them
in together for runs, although
they got two an bases in the
fifth, sixth, seventh and- eighth,
and loaded the sacks with hone
out in the ninth, Moir, young
Elora twirler, pulled himself out
of a bad hole in .this frame.
