Home From Hospital
Mrs. Bert Brunsdon, who has
been a patient in Victoria Hos-
pital, Landon, for about two
weeks, was brought home on Sat-
urday last, Her ankle has been
re -set and is now in a cast, and
is doing as well as can be ex-
pected. We wish her a complete
recovery. •
Church Services
'Church services will be held at
the usual hour -10 a..m on Sun-

colored minister from U.S.A. will
be in the pulpit. This will no

Has Interesting Trip
Miss Lois Middleton has re-
turned home after spending the
past six weeks on a motor trip
through the United States to the
Pacific Coast. Some of the most
interesting points visited, were
San Francisco, Los Angeles, Cat-
alina Island, Mexico, the Color-
ado Grand Canyon and Texas.

daughter, were also here o

casion being Miss Elizabeth Cam-
eron's birthday. William L. Cam-

Carnival a Success
The Firemen's Carnival held on
Friday evening last was a de-
cided success, due to the 'organ-
ization of the Fire Brigade, un-
der Fire Chief Walter Westlake.

Community Club Meets
The August meeting of Stanley
Community Club was held at the
home of Mrs. Goldie Graham,
with a good' attendance, and a
number of visitors present. The
president, Mrs. George Cantelon,
conducted the meeting.
The chief item of business
was the sending of $10 to Huron
County Children's Aid Society.
A program consisting of a solo
by Joan McGowan, reading by
Anna Moffat, recitation by Anne
McCowan, solo .by Elaine Taylor,
and reading by Marjorie Graham,
was followed by a lunch served
by the hostess and her group.

mained for a longer visit at the

Approximately 150,000 custom-
ers of all classes of Ontario
Hydro's Southern Ontario System
are now enjoying the benefits of
60 -cycle power.
This was announced by Hydro
Chairman Robert H. Saunders,
who said that steady progress was
being made en the 21 areas sche-
duled for "Operation Standardi-
zation" in. the "25 -cycle island"
of the province.
Mr. Saunders. stated''tthat stand-
ardization work has been com-
pleted for more than 130,000 do-
mestic, 10,000 commercial and
2,000 industrial customers through-
out this 12,000 square - mile
"Island."
An estimated 720,000 individual
items of frequency -sensitive elect-
rical equipment, and appliances
have been altered for operation
at the new frequency for these
customers.
Mr. Saunders said two' of the
Areas, "A," north of Toronto, and
"B," around Sarnia, have been
completed, and work is well ad-
vanced in three others, "C," the
London district, "D," the St.
Marys-Seafbnth-Goderieh sector,
and "M," covering most of the
lakeshore communities between
Hamilton and Toronto.
The equipment of some 850,000
Hydro customers will have been
altered by the time the big pro-
gram is finished in Southern On-
tario, Mr. Saunders said.
St. Andrew's Anniversary
Anniversary services were held
in St. Andrew's United Church
on Sunday, August 12, with Rev,
;T. J. Pint, newly -inducted min-
ister onVerne United Church, as
guest preacher. Mr. Pitts, for-
merly of Newfoundland, gave
'very fine evangelistic messages
at the two services and Mrs.
Milne of Toronto and Mr. Auld
of St. Catharines, assisted' great-
ly with the Service of praise by
their solos, at the morning ser-
vice. A mixed quartette from
Cromarty delighted the evening
congregation. There was a good
attendance at both services,
