MOTORISTS who zip along the
highways at a good rate of speed
and at a steady speed, would be
horrified if they had to obey a
law of the highways which was
in force in 1911: . R is: "The
law regarding automobiles on
the public highways states that
everyone in charge of an; auto-
mobile must take every reason,-
able
easonable precaution to prevent the
frightening of any' horses, and
shall not approach any horse
nearer than one hundred yards
at a .greater speed than seven.
miles per hour, and if a signal
is given by raising the hand,
must stop his automobile, includ-
ing the motor, until the horse Is
past . . . If horse is frightened,
party in charge of automobile
must assist in getting horse past"
H this law remains on the
statute books, it is a good thing
that not many horses are still on
the roads . . Otherwise there
would be more traffic tie-ups
than even at present .. .
