PUBLIC SCHOOL
REPRESENTATIVES
VISIT SCHOOLS
A deputation from the Build-
ing Committee of Clinton Public
School Board paid a visit of in-
spection to a number of modern.
public schools in the Toronto area
and made a tentative report to
the Board at its July meeting.
They were Trustee Larne J.
Brown, R. S. Macaulay and Leslie
Ball, together with G. G. Gard-
iner, Public School Inspector for
South Huron.
The members were greatly im-
pressed with what they saw, but
felt that considerable thought
should be given to design of the
local school, particularly with re-
gard to the interior.
The Board confirmed the ap-
pointment of two new teachers
for the academic year 1951-52,
thus completing the staff.
Principal G. H. Jefferson's re-
port for June indicated an enrol-
ment of 356, with an average
attendance of 301.25, or 89,69 per
cent.

KENNEDY, MEEKER
ATTEND PICNIC
CONSERVATIVES
(Continued frorp Page One)
Public life. ` It;s what you can
do to help the people," he stated.
"I never made aryl differenlce
whether a man voted for me or
against me. I forget politics and
think of the people. You can't
fool t}:l. people. No man living
can tell how people will vote,
but I know they will vote for an
honest, sincere man"
The speaker felt that Leslie
Frost stands for, something good
in public life; any government
must have something on the ball
to stay in office.
Turning to his own Department,
agriculture, Mr. Kennedy said it
was literally doing so many
things, he couldn't keep up with
it. Some of the things little
known about were the money.
spent on agricultural research,
including honey, beef, potatoes,
pastures, progeny tests for cattle.
Farming was "big business" in
Canada.
Hon. Mr. Kennedy said Canada
was producing more eggs per
person than any other country
in the world. -395 eggs per cap-
ita per year.
Elston Cardiff, MP for Huron
North, remarked on the wonder-
ful crops in Western Ontario to-
day, and said he was very proud
of the County of Huron. Intro-
ducing Howie Meeker, MP for
Waterloo South, Mr. Cardiff said
that he was "one of the most
sincere bays I ever have met,"
and he never shad worked with
anyone more cooperative than he.
Howie Meeker, MP
Howie Meeker declared that
eight years ago his idea of a
politician was just about the same
as anybody else, but that in the
Waterloo South by-election he
had come to admire such men
as Elston Cardiff for their stam-
ina, will to work and willingness
to help. He sincerely thenked
Elston Cardiff for his part in the
by-election campaign.
"If you are a Conservative, it
is definitely your duty to get
out and work, talk to your neigh-
bors, and help along the cause
of Canada," he said. "I'm going
down to Ottawa and sit in and
learn what I can as a young
Canadian."
Elgin McKinley, . Zurich, P -C
candidate in the Last Federal elec-
tion, in thanking Mr. Meeker for
attending the picnic, declared
that things were looking up a bit
when you considered the four
by-election victories. "at is a
good thing for Canada; let's keep
it up," he stated.
Contests resulted as follows:
Boys, four and under, Harry
Cummings, Kenny Burns, Brian
Gil; boys, four to seven, Ronny
Scott, Kenneth McIhvain, Teddy
