Suffers Stroke Mrs. Annie Fothergill is quite ill having taken a stroke last week, She was taken to her daughter's, Mrs. Wilbur Crich, Clinton. • Church Services The church services ori Sunday next will be in charge of the Young People's Union which no doubt will be quite interesting. A welcome is extended to every- one to attend. Attended Conference Mr. and Mrs. Frank Tamblyn and Margaret and Mrs, Margaret Manning visited with friends .in St. Thomas last Wednesday. Recovering in Hospital Fred Arisell is in Clinton Pub- lic Hospital recuperating from as heart attack. His many friends wish him a speedy recovery, ' Community Club Meets S.S. No. 4 Comunity Club met at the home of Mrs. Irvine Teb- butt, for the June meeting, with the president, Mrs. L. Pearson, in charge. The meeting opened with the Lord's Prayer. The roll call was answered by 14 members. A quilt was quilted for the hostess. The July meeting will be bald at the home of Mrs. R. E. Thomp- son with Mrs. L. Pearson and Mrs. H. McCartney as hostesses. The roll call is a Canadian auth- or or authoress and the title of ane book, Congratulations! Mr. end Mrs. Oliver Cole cele- brated their twenty-fifth anni- versary quietly on. Sunday at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Grant Stirling. Among those present were Mrs. Cole's father end mother, Mr. and Mrs. Gifford Crich, and their four daughters: Anna, Mrs. G. Stirling; Ethel, Mrs. Desjardine, Grand Bend; and Margaret and Doris; and one son, Jack; and other friends from London and Zurich. They receiv- ed many useful gifts after which all sat down to a bountiful sup- per centred with the bride's cake. SUMMERHILL .44444.4 Ladies' Club Meets The June meeting of Summer - bill Ladies' Club was held at the home of Mrs. Norman Wright with 22 member:, and one visitor present. The minutes of the last mieetin.g were read and adopted. It was decided, to hold the annual picnic on Thursday, June 28. at Seaforth, supper to be served at six. A contest was conducted by Mrs Dan Smith with Mrs. Will Lovett, the winner. The raffle was won by Mrs. Orval Rapson. The July meeting will be held at the home of «Mrs. Ivan Hog gait, the roil call to_,be answered with something for the bazaar. The lunch will be in charge of Mrs. Allan Neal, Mrs. Goldie Smith, Mrs. Don Smith and Mrs. Orval. Rapson., Those in charge of the programme will be Mrs. Earl Blake, Mrs. E. The meet- ing was opened by singing the "`Theme" hymn and the Women's Creed was repeated in unison. The minutes of the previous meet- ing were read and adopted. The roll call was "the .most interest- ing trip I have ever had" and was answered by twelve mem- bers. During the business ses- sion, Mrs. Newton gave us her valuation of the bale which was sent to 'Newfoundland. The Scrip- ture reading and. ` prayer were given by Mrs. C. Tebbutt end the chapter from the study book was given by Mrs• I. Tebbutt. Mrs. Newton gave a short mission talk, and the .hymn, "Lead on, O King Eternal". was sung, and the history of thehymn was"giv- en by Mrs. C Teb1h7attt T h e meeting was closed with the Miz- palt benediction. The remainder of the' afternoon was' spent in quilting,• after which a bounteous,. lunch, was served by the hostess. Mrs. R. Eberhard, Miss Audrey Ball and Bob Patchett, London, were the guests , of Mrs.. James Ferguson on Saturday, Miss Jessie Metcalf and Misses M: and J. Miller,. Mr, and Mrs. Howard Burt end babe and Miss Mary Lou Bunt, London, spent the weekend with their grandfather, F. W. Baker, Mrs. 'William Greig and daugh- ter Jean, Toronto, came on Mon- day to spend the summer at their cottage "Bali Acres," at The Poplars. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Davison,..De- troit, Mr. and Mrs. T. Mallett and family, London, visited their mother, Mrs.' J. Davison over the weekend. Mrs. R. H. Middleton and -Mast- er Bobby, Hensall, are visiting her mother, Mats. N. W. Woods. Bobby underwent a tonsilectomy in Clinton Public Hospital on Tuesday. Mrs. Douglas Varty and Barbara and Mrs. R. Peck, London, are at the latter's cottage, "Belle Vue" until the end of .the month. Mr. Varty was also here over the weekend. Taken Ill Suddenly Keith Pruss, London, who with his wife was spending the week- end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Parker, was taken ill suddenly, on Sunday afternoon and removed to Clinton Public Hospital where he/is still in ser- ious condition, Mrs. Pruss Is staying with her parents, WALTON FARM SOLD WALTON — Samuel Patterson has sold his farm on the boundary west of Walton to Allen Sorel and Rae Hunter. 0 PILOT'S LICENSE SEAFORTH—Bill Munn, son of I Dr. J.
