(Continued from Page One)
country was new to ue and we
found it completely fascineting,
"While Waiting for the little
hostess house on the Camp to be
vacated by the family whose
place we were taking, we stayed
at the hotel in town. • Our pre-
vious experience of /hotels had
been confined to those' in large
cities, end we approached -this
new lodging venture with some
misgivings. Like most of dive
fears we humans fall prey to,
these were completely unfound-
' ed. The accommodation was fine,
the meals excellent; and every-
one was extraordinarily kind to
us, As our stay. in Clinton length-
ened and our associations with
the townspeople grew we found
everywhere the same friendliness
and sincere interest that we now
recognize to be the outstanding,
characteristic of that region.
"In our tour of duty at Clin-
ton, which lasted more than three
years, we found ever-increasing
happiness. Nothing could have
been more satisfactory' to us than
to have remained in Clinton per-
manently. However, people
the Service are nomadic of ne-
cessity and our enjoyment of the
Clinton posting was perhaps the
greater because we knew its de-
lights could not be ours for very
long.
"Through your columns, Mr.
Editor, we would like to express
our deep appreciation of the
warm and friendly treatment ac-
corded us by everyone with whom
we came into contact. Wire would
like to convey, also, our admira-
tion and liking for the Town of
Clinton and its surrounding coun-
tryside. We have many, many
happy memories of it, and some
dozens of sketches which will
serve to keep these memories
vivid.
"So may we say once more, in
closing, to one and all, from our
hearts, thank you, good friends,"
(Signed)—EDITH and SHER-
MAN BURBANK, BILL, and
JIMMY.
