Mrs. Dalton Smith and 'little Miss Janet, Lambeth, came last week to be with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Higgins, owing to the former's illness. Mr. Hig- gins' many friends hope that his health will soon improve. Mr. and Mrs. William L. Met- calf left on Monday to motor to Vancouver, B.C. Mr. Metcalf's work as property engineer with Alcan in the new project planned for Kitimat will take them to Ootsa Lake, B.C., for the summer. Attended Reunion Miss Mildred Cameron was in Detroit a couple of days last week where she attended the Open House Reunion at Harper Hospi- tal on May 17 which was planned by the Harper Hospital School of Nursing Alumnae Association. Starting with a Coffee Hour at 10 a.m. in the nurses home there was a full schedule ending with a banquet at the Detroit Leland Hotel at 7 p.m. Miss Cameron returned home on Friday with her brother, William L. Feted Ere Departure A very pleasant evening was spent at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Stewart on Thurs- day evertinglast when friends and neighbours gathered in hon- our of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Connell who are leaving the neighbor- hood. The evening was spent in play- ing progressive crokinole, the winners being higlh, Miss Marg- aret Collins and Clayton Martin; low, Mrs. Roy Connell and Wesley Shobbrook. Later, a short but interesting programme was given, consisting of a humourous address by Rev. W. J. Woolfrey; readings by Mr. Martin and Jack Van Egmond; violin selections by William Col- lins, accompanied 'by Miss Gladys Collins; piano duetts by Misses Margaret and Gladys Collins. Charles Stewart read the fol- lowing address, in part as follows: "We, your neighbours a n d friends, have met here on this occasion, this evening, to show our deep appreciation of your friendship and good neighbour relations, which we have enjoy- ed, and the memory of which we shall always oheridh. We regret that you are leaving this locality, but you both have such sunny and pleasing dispositions that you will make lasting friendships wherever you may go. We want to assure you of our continued interest in your welfare and trust that your future will he filled with happiness and good health." Mrs. Wesley Shobbrook pre- sented Mr. and Mrs. Connell with a handsome electric fable lamp. Mr. Connell replied very fitting- ly, thanking every one present. Community Club Meets The Iregnlar meeting of Stanley Community Club was held at the home of Miss Billie Stewart, with the vice-president in the chair. 'Brie meeting opehed by repeating the Lord's Prayer, followed by the secretary's and treasurer's reports, and the roll call. There were 17 members, one guest and -four children present. A letter of thanks was read from Mrs. John McFarlane. After a short busines period a reading was given by Mrs. George Cant- elon and a contest was conduoted by Mrs. Bob Glen. The June meeting will he held at the home of Mrs. Walter Mof- fat. The meeting closed with the Mizpah Benedliction after which a social ,period was enjoyed and a very lovely lunch was served by the hostess and her group, Goshen WMS held the May meeeing at the home of Mrs. Al- lan, Armstrting with 30 present. Hymn 388 was sung and the minutes read and approved.. A letter was read from literature secretary and supplies secretary. Cards were received from Ken- neth Park, Mrs. Henry Errata and Margaret Erratt. ' Donna Hayter and Merle Arm- strong sang a duett, "When He Cometh." Reports 'of the Pres- byterial were given by Mrs. Ro- bert McKinley and Jean McKin- ley. The offering was received after which Mrs. Armstrong's group had the devotional. A trio, Mrs. E. Hayter, Mrs. B. Peck and Helen Erratt sang. George Wright with 2,4 members end two visitors present. "Thank you's" were re- ceived from Mrs. J. Watkins, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Watkins and Barbara. The following officers were elected for the coming year: President, Mrs. Arthur Heyward; vice-president, Mrs. Charles Mer- rill; secretary, Mrs. Neville For- bes; treasurer, Mrs. Ivan Hog- garth; card committee, Mrs. Percy Gibbings; sewing committee, Mrs. Wes Vodden and MTs. Norman Wright; lunch committee, Mrs. Wilfred Penfound; pianist, Mrs. Keith Tyndall; assistant, Mrs. Clarence Bell. It was decided to hold the annual bazaar in the fall. The program consisted of a pleasing piano solo by Mrs. Clarence Ball. The June meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Norman Wright. ' The roll cell is to be answered by paying of fees. Those in charge of the lunch are Mrs. Russell Good, Mrs. William Lov- ett, Mrs. Arthur Heyward, and Mrs. Keith Tyndall. In charge of the program are Mrs. Don Smith, Mrs.—Earl Blake, Mrs. Glen Cor- nish and Mrs. E. Ellis. The ladies met again Tuesday, May 14, at the home of Mrs. Clarence Ball, On this occasion they presented a welcome shower to Mrs. W. Rusteniburg. T h e shower, which consisted of kit- chen utensils, was brought in in a gaily decorated basket by Mrs. Percy Gibbings and Mrs. Neville Forbes. The address was read by Mrs. Allan Neal, to which Mrs, Rustenburg ably replied. Mrs. Clarence Ball and Mrs. Keith Tyndall 'gave some piano num- bers and the school children led by their teacher, Mrs. Wilson, provided their music festival songs. The hostesses—Mrs. Clar- ence Ball, Mrs. Harold Lobb, Mrs. Stephenson, Mrs. Sid Lansing and Mrs. Wilfred Penfound--served a dainty lunch. day, May 21. Doris has been doing Botanical research at Western but has now commenced work in the Laboratory of the Medical School, U.W.O., with Dr. Rossiter. Miss McEwen, accompanied by Ross W. Nichols, U.
