Mrs. H. G. Mawson, Vilna, Alta,.
arrived in Clinton Saturday to
spend some time with her par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. N. W. Tre-
t artlha, due to the latter's illness.
Frank Fingland, Jr., who has
been taking postgraduate work at
the University of Toronto in
Economics leading to the degree
of Master of Arts, is visiting his
parents, Frank Fingla'nd, KC, and
Mrs. Finglaud.
LAC William Matthews spent
the weekend with his parents,
Mr. and M•rs. Alonzo J. Matthews,
Mary St. He is now stationed
with the RCAF at Rockcliffe,
having just been transferred from
Rivers, Man.

Mr. and Mrs. F. B. Pennebaker
left by CNR Monday afternoon
for Toronto, where they planned
to visit friends this week, and
also tache in the annual spring
drug show and banquet held in
the Royal York Hotel Wednesday
evening.
James I. Vessey, Sudbury, as-
sumed duties yesterday as assist-
ant accountant of Clinton Branch
of the Bank of Montreal, succeed-
iny Waiter C. Smith, who report-
ed to T.eeswarter branch Monday.
Mr. and Mrs. Vessey expect to
take up residence in the Shear-
ing Apartsanent, Ontario St. and
Albert St., on May 16.
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur E. Saund-
ers, London, are spending a two -
weeks' vacation with the lady's
parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Gun-
inghame. Mr. Saunders, a for-
mer graduate of McGill University
in Science, Chemistry and Engin-
eering,
ngineering, graduates this month from
University of Western Ontario in
Business Administration. T h e
young couple plan to make their
home in Toronto where Mr.
Saunders has accepted a position
with the Dow Chemical Company.

service in St. Paul's Anglican
Church on Sunday evening. Miss
Anna K. Pond, ATCM, will pre-
side at the organ throughout the
service, and have charge of the
choir. Visitors are welcome.

LEGION AUXILIARY
The Ladies' Auxiliary of the
Canadian Legion will hold its reg-
ular meeting in the Legion Hall
on Monday evening, May 14. A
good attendance is requested as
plans are to be made for the
zone rally which is to be held at
Harriston at the end of this
month.

Mothers' Study Group
Holds Fine Meeting
The April meeting of the
Mothers' Study Group of Wes-
ley -Willis United Church was
held in Mrs. Elmer Huglll's home
with 17 mothers present. Mrs.
H. C. Wilson had charge of the
meeting which opened with the
singing of a hymn, followed by
the Scripture lesson, Luke 21 :
1-13, read by Mrs. L. Haughton.
Mrs. Wilson offered prayer and
another hymn was sung.
The minutes of the last meet-
ing were read and approved. It
was decided that articles for the
bale would be included with
the WMS bele in May. Mrs.
Agnes Moon is to be in charge.
Mrs. William Holland invited
the group to her home on
May 22, those wishing to go are
to. meet at the church at 8 p.m.
Mrs. Bill Grigg reported receiv-
ing a letter from the local branch
of the Women's Institute, stating
that that organization was behind
the Mothers' Study Group and
willing to help in any way in
order to obtain better shows for
the children.
Mrs. Wilson read a nature story
"The Robin's Nest" from the
Missionary Monthly. Mrs. Hau-
ghton read an article entitled
"Story of Love". Mrs. Moon sang
the lovely old hymn "The Beauti-
ful Garden. of Prayer." Mrs.
Wilson ,chose for her chief article
"Wash the dishes, Kathy" which
was much enjoyed. The singing
of a hymn and the Mizpah Bene-
diction dosed the meeting after
which a social time was enjoyed.
The May meeting will be in
charge of Mrs. (Dr.) Newlands
with Mrs. D. Fowler and Mrs.
Bill. Grigg as hostesses.

Mr. and Mrs. Earl MacLaren,
of MacLaren's Studio, Goderich,
attended the 67th annual conven-
tion of the Ontario Society of
Photographers held at the Royal
York Hotel, Toronto, Monday and
Tuesday of last week.
Out of six photographs which
they entered in the Portrait ex-
hibit, all six were accepted and
hung, and one of the prints was
awarded a Ribbon of Merit.
The ribbon print will be on
display along with other ribbon
prints in Simpson's window, To-
ronto, for a week.
It is of interest also that an-
other one of their prints was
chosen to appear in a page spread
which is running at an early date
in Toronto Star Weekly. It is a
photograph of the twin daughters
(Carolyn and Dianne) of Mr. and
Mrs. D. B. Downing, RCAF Sta-
tion, Clinton,
