Mr. and Mrs. Nelson McConkey, Kitchener, were at their home in the village over the weekend H. Everett, Guelph, is spending a fortnight's vacation with his wife and family in the village. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Toms, Detroit, visited the former's bro- ther, John Toms, over the week- end. Mr. and Mrs. Stuart Sturgeon, Preston, spent Sunday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Sturgeon. Perry Lindey, Kingston, came last week to spend the summer with Mrs. Ted Davies. Dr. and Mrs. R, Hunter, Mary Alice' and Sally Beth, and Charles Rogers, Jr., Toronto, were at their home in the village over the weekend. Misses Mary Dewar and Kate Urquhart, Kincardine, were the guests of the former's brother, David Dewar and Mrs. Dewar over the weekend. Mrs. Henry McClinchey return- ed home on Saturday. Accomp- anying her from Preston were Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Holm who returned the same day. Miss A. M. Stirling was called to the home of her brother, D. A. Stirling. Huron Road, Goderich Township, on Tuesday, owing .to the death of Mrs. Stirling. Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Featherston were in the village over the weekend; Mrs. Featherston re- mained to spend this week with her mother, Mrs. Charles W. Parker. Rev, and Mrs. H. J. E. Webb, Mrs. R. H. Gairdner and Mrs. Emerson Heard were in London on Tuesday. The ladies attend- ed the opening sessions of the Huron Diocesan W.A. meeting. D. A. Atkinson, Detroit, was at his pottage on Bayfield Ter- race over the weekend. Mr. end Mrs. Bob Carnoghan, who have spent the winter in Detroit, and Miss Verna Gray, Seaforth, are occupying the cottage this week. P,C.• and Mrs. Lloyd Westlake, Mount Forest, and Miss Morah Guest, Guelph, were weekend vis- itors ht the home of Mr. and Mrs. Malcom Toms. Claytgn Guest, Guelph, motored, to• the village on. Wednesday, and on his return on Thursday was accompanied.by Mrs. Guest, who had been visit- ing her sister, Mrs. Toms. LONDON ROAD .off 4-0-0 Club Holds Meeting • London Road Club met at Mrs. R. Scott's, Edmonton Rd., RCAF, for their April meeting with 19` members and four visitors pres- ent. Mrs. Managhan, the presi- dent, opened the meeting with "0 Canada," followed by the Creed. The minutes were read and adopted. - The roll call was answered by Question Box. The meeting wee called to a close with The King and then four tables of euchre were played, prizes go- ing to Mrs. J. Nett, high, and Mrs. O'Brien, low. The mystery box was won by Mrs. Managhkn, The ladies gathered around Mrs. Scott and present td her with a cup and saucer as she is leaving for Trenton. Lunch was served by Mrs. Scott and her friends. May meeting is to be held at Mrs. R. HEN'SALL Leaving for West A joint farewell was given at the home of Mrs. Flora Consitt on Tuesday evening last, for Mrs. Chesney and Mr. J. Tapp, who are leaving shortly to make their homes in Moose Jaw, Sask., and Sarnia. The evening was spent in con- tests and card's after which each was presented with a suitable gift, Miss Gladys Luker and Miss • An- nie Consitt reading the presenta- tion addresses. A delicious lunch was served by the hostess and a very pleas- ant evening had by all present. At the conclusion Miss Jessie Bell presented Mrs. Chesney with a 'beautiful bouquet of cut flowers, (Intended for last week) Mrs. Alice Joynt, who has been ill for the past week or so, is re- cuperating at the home of her son, Laird, Toronto, Mrs. William Pollard and dau- ghter, London, visited over the weekend with Mrs. George Gram and with Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Pollock returned home on Thursday of last week from Scott Memorial Hospital, Seaforth, and is improving in health, we are pleased to report. Her niece, Mrs. Victor Vanstone, Guelph, is staying 'with her. Delegate from Trinity Mrs. R. J. Larson left on Friday to spend the week with -relatives in London. She also attended the meetings of 64th Annual Huron Diocesan Board of the Women's Auxiliary of the. Church of England in Canada, as delegate from the branch of Trinity Church. .. Sympathy Extended We extend sympathy to Mrs. R. B. Johnston in the death of her husband following .a prolonged illness. Mrs. Johnston had come to her home in the village on Wednesday and was summonsed back to London on Thursday ow- ing to his critical condition.
