Grace WA Meets
Mrs, Austin Harris was hostess
for the meeting of the WA of
Grace Church on Wednesday last.
The president was in charge of
the meeting which opened by
singing "Christ the Lord is Risen
today," after which Rev. Renner
led in prayer. Scripture . was
read by Mrs. Donald Harris. Sec-
retary and treasur'er's reports
were read and' roll call anewened
by a verse pertaining to spring.
A lengthy discussion . on baking
sale, plays, etc., followed.
Mrs. Alvin Betties gave en
interesting reading and the meet-
ing closed by repeating the bene-
diction. Lunch was served by the
hostess and her assistants.

Ladies' Club Meets
The April meeting of Summer-
hill Ladies' Club was held at the
home of Mrs. Wes Vodden with: 19
members and one visitor present.
Thank you's were received from

and the Forbes family. The pro-
gramme consisted of a solo by
Miss Phyllis Lobb; a contest con-

Proclamation
Public Notice is hereby given that a Vote of those
entitled to vote thereon will be taken on
Monday, the 14th Day
of May, A.D. 1951
as provided in the following By -Law:
BY-LAW NUMBER 9 FOR 1951
OF THE CORPORATION OF
THE TOWN OF CLINTON.
WHEREAS the Clinton Public School Board has re-
quested the Council of the Corporation of the Town of
Clinton to pees a By-law for borrowing the sum of
$300,000,00 by the issue and sale of debentures for the
erection of a new School House in the said Town.
AND WHEREAS the Council has refused to pass such
By-law without the consent of the Electors qualified to
vote under the Municipal Act on money by-laws,
AND WHEREAS the Clinton Public School Board has
requested that the question be submitted to the vote of
the Electors qualified to vote under the Municipal Act on
money by-laws.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ENACTED by the Council
of the Corporation of the Town of Clinton as follows:
1. The following question, namely
"Are you in favour of the Town of
Clinton issuing debentures in the
amount of $300,000.00 for the erec-
tion of a new public school house?"
shall be submitted to the Electors of the Corporation entitled
to vote thereon, on Monday the 14th day of May, A.D. 1951,
between the hours of 9:00 o'clock in the forenoon and
5:00 o'clock in the aftennoon (Daylight Saving Time) in the
following places, and by the following Deputy Returning
Officers and Poll Clerks:

office of the Town Clerk of the said Municipality for the
purpose of appointing, and, if requested so to de, shall ap-
point by writing, signed by him, two persons to attend
at the final summing up of the votes by the Clerk, and
one person to attend at each Polling place on 'behalf of
the persons interested in voting in the affirmative on the
saids question; and a Iike =Tiber on behalf of the persons
interested in voting in the negative on the said question.
3. On the 14th day of May, 'A.D. 1951, at the hour of
8:00 o'clock in the afternoon (Daylight Saving Time), at
the Office of the Town Clerk of the said Municipality,

affirmative and in the negative on the said question.

Aged Lady Recovering
After Fall in Home

An ' aged and almost blind
woman, who lay helpless in her
unheated home in Hensal•l more
than 24 hours with her left hip
and left shoulder fractured from
a fall, its recovering in Victoria
Hospital, London.
Mrs, John Dallas, 87, fell in
her home April 13. No light show-
ed in her home Friday night, and
Saturday, a neighbour, Mrs.
Martha Bell, got no answer when
She rapped at the •door.
Mrs., Bell returned at 8 p.m.
with other neighbours, Mrs. An-
nie Logan, and Mrs. Harvey, and
when unable to get in, they
notified Mrs. Dallas' nephew,
Russell Dallas, Brueefield. On
the nephew's instruction, Hensahl
Chief Constable Charles Leon-
laardt forced the front doorr and
found Mrs. Dallas lying on the
floor of an upstairs 'bedroom.
Mrs. Dallas lives alone and
the fire was out. She was suf-
fering friim exposure and shock
as well as the- hip and shoulder
injuries. Dr. J. C. Goddard ac-
companied Mrs. Dallas by am-
bulance to London.

Time effective in Clinton at 12.01 a.m., Sunday, April 29,
1951 to remain in force until 12.01 a.m., Sunday, September
30, 1951 and call upon all citizens to observe this proclama-
tion.

UP of every kind of refuse before the First Day of

To an owners and harbourers : of dogs within the
limits of the Town of Clinton:
As dog licenses are due and payable March 1st of each
year, we have instructed the Police Department to impound
any and all dogs running at large without a license tag.
Captured dogs vvill be held for 48 hours, and, if not
claimed and license 'and impounding fees paid within the
above named time any dog so : held will be destroyed:
And further take notice that according to a Town By -
Law any dogs found running at large during the months
of May, June and July may be destroyed. And Anther•
take notice that any dog running at large without a tag,
licensed by the Town, may be destroyed during any month
of the year.

her solo in a class of 15 com-
petitors.
The Holmesville school, S. S.
No. 3, Goderi'lh, under direction
of Miss E. Glidden. music super-
visor and Miss K. Holmes, teach-
er, did very well in the com-
petitions. On Tuesday it came
third, with 83 marks, in a unison!
chorus class of 27; tied for second
with 83 marks in a two-part chor-
us which had 23 schools compet-
ing. Its double trio won 80 marks,
and on Thursday its rhythm band
ranked third with 81 marks •in a
'class of 15.
OBITUARY
JOHN B. EAGLESON
Funeral services were held in
the Langdon Methodist Church,
Langdon, N.D., on Monday, April
16, 1951, for John B. Eagleson,
former resident of the Bayfield
area and an avid reader of The
NEWS -RECORD for many years.
Rev. Glen S. Gabel, pastor of the
church. assisted by Rev. S. J.
Brooks, officiated, end interment
was in Lebanon Cemetery. Long
time neighbors of the late Mr.
Eagleson were both active and
honorary pallbearers.
John Boyd Eagleson, son of
William Eagleson and Matilda
Boyd; was born August 14, 1859,
in the County of Antrim, Ireland.
As a child he emigrated with his
parents to Bayfield in 1863. On
April 4, 1883, he left Bayfield for
Grafton, ND.. Later he, took up
land in Easby Township, Cavalier
County, near Langdon, end con-
tinued to reside there for 68
years., He retired from active
farming in 1934, and since then
had resided in a house on his
farm, although the land had been
rented.
Mr• Eagleson was an active
member of the Methodist Church,
and had served es 'steward for
many years. He was a member
of the Orange Order. He was
interested in civic affairs, and
served Easby Township as super-
visor for 24 years, 12 of them as
board chairman. He also served
two years as township treasurer
and a like period as school dist-
rict treasurer. He was an ardent
gardener and a man who enjoyed
walking great distances, this
practice he continued almost to
the last.
Mr. Eagleson's death occurred
in Langdon hospital, on Thursday
morning, April 12, following an
illness of a little over a month.
Mr. Eagleson was twice mar-
ried, first to Jennie Wrightson.
on December 31, 1895, who died
many years ago, and later on No-
vember 30, 1897, to Mrs. MoK'it-
rick, widow of his neighbour,
Jeremiah McKetrick, who pre-
deceased her husband on January
28, 1940. His only son, Charles
W. Eagleson, died about the age
of 40 years.
Surviving are four grandchild-
ren in Eddyville, Ore.; five step-
children, Mrs. Matilda L. Nelson,
Cashmere, Wash.; Mrs. Clifford
Rygg, Willarnina, 'Ore.; Meltburn
McKitrick, Bowman; Dufferin Mc-
Kih.rick, Langdon; and Miss Nellie
McIJitrick, Los Angeles, Calif.
Also surviving are two brothers
and two sisters, William Eagle-
son, Aberdeen, S.D.; Wilson Eag-
leson, Buchanan; Mrs. Henry
Young, Aberdeen; and Mrs. Wil-
liam Johnston, Milestone,, Sask.
Congratulations are' extended to so well up to the tops of the lasts..
