- From Hawaii to San Francisco
was another routine flight made
a little more interesting by the
failure of one engine which is
Only incidental to a North Star
as three Merlin engines are quite
soRticient to drive it at top speed,
Now here we were all sun-
tanned and brimming full of
stories waiting in tbe California
sunshine for the last'hop to Ot-
tawa, little -thinking that m the
short space of ten hours we would
once fought for possession of this go from 70 above to four below
strategic strip of corel. Prom land spring would become winter.
However, all good things come
to an end and so we were walk-
ing down the ramp with mixed
feelings. You felt you had seen
much you liked and much more
that you didn't. There were some
things in the East you. would
want for Canada b'it not art the
price of Eastern misery.
There is much to be learned
from the East, but the greatest
lesson xtg„learned was that of all
places, Cdnada after all was the
finest and best.

The women on the Station have
been most generous in offering
their help to the Brownie Pack
and Guide Company.
Now, we are going to take ed -
vantage of these offers, and re-
quest that any women who would
be willing to apply fm. a war-
rant (by passing a few simple
tests) and help us in training the
Brownies and Guides please get
in touch with their leaders.
The growing number of Brown-
ies and Guides make it most dif-
ficult for one person to pass all
the tests. There should be at
least two warranted Guiders in
' each Pack or Company. The
Guide meetings are held Monday,

The night of February 2 was
one of much excitement for the
newly -formed Station Brownie
Pack. Mrs. Hunter, the Guide
Corrunissioner for this district,
was coming, and eight Brownies
were to receive their pins. Small
wonder the wee folk were all in
a dither, but as the evening went
on, they lost their nervousness
as each one faced. the Corm-nts-
sioner to make her Browrde
promises.
Those who were enrolled were:
Maxine Munroe, Merle Knob-
lauch, Bonnie Burns, Sandra Mc-
Lean, Julianne Giles, Marlene
DuBois, Fay Poster.
Tea was served to the parents
who attended, and everyone thor-
oughly ening
the songs the
Brownies sang for them.
Good. luck to all our new
Brownies, and may it not be too
long before the rest get their
pins, and then surely we'll see
Brownie smiles wherever we go
in Adestral Park!
