places at Nevada. Lunch was

the funeral of the late Mrs. An-
nie Forbes, sister of the - late
Mrs. Walter Wallis.

The S.S. No. 4- Farm Forum

Following the discussion, there
was a recreation period and lunch
was served by the ladies. •
The meeting newt week will be
held at the Bootee of Mr. and Mts.
Jim Lobb, with Mrs. H.' Howard
and Irvine Tebbuttt in charge of
the recreation.

WA and WMS Meet
The United Church women
met on Thursday, Februard 1, at
the home of Mrs. Bon Bothwell,,
with a large attendance of 40.
Six women - Mrs. F. Watson,
Mrs. L, Cleave, lens, H. Helmer,
Mrs. A. Dunn, 1VGrs. E Porter
and Mrs. J. Scatchmer gave
an interesting group presentation
of a chapter of the Study Rook,
"The United Church re-enters
Japan ,through re-30±orcements".
It was largely the story of new
missionaries who have gone to
Japan since the war, from the
UTnited. Church: A number of
these ladies gave a nice rehhdd-
tion of a hymn, written by - a
Japanese. '
At the WA meeting, the mem-
bers began turning in the articles
made for the midsummer bazaar.
Pleas were made for shipping
woollen materials to a firm in
Winnipeg to be made into bl'an-
ke'ts. Different fund-raising
events were desoussed land after
singing the grace, an excellent
lunch was served by the com-
mittee -Mrs. Robert Scotclnxber,
Mas. Sparks, Mrs. I. SlteckRe, Mrs,

Members of ,the CGIT and -Boy
SP7outs took part Sunday even-
ing in the church service, The
junior choir was under the direc-
tion of Mrs. Murdock. The ser-
vice' was much enjoyed by all
present.
On Monday evening the same
groups held: a very successful
skating party. Lunich and games
in the church basement followed
the skating,

The WA of Brucefield 'United
Church met on February 8, With
an attendance of around 40. The
meeting opened with hymn 138.
The Scripture' lesson, Luke 18:
9-14, was read by Mrs. B. Keyes.
Mrs. R. Allan gave an address
from Matt. 5:16. Hymn 141 was
sung, followed by prayer by Mrs.
HOLMESVILLE'.

ago and is creaking considerable
interest, as this breed of cattle
is still quite new in this part of
the, province.
World's Day of Prayer
The Women of the WMS groups
of Zion, Ebenezer and Holmes -
vine United Church will, gather
in the Sunday School rooms of
HolmesviLle Church this Friday,
February 9, at 2.30 o'clock to
unite in the Wo'rld's Day of
Prayer service. Miss Sybil Cour-
tice, Minton, will be the guest'
speaker. All ladies in the com-
munities are warmly welcomed.
XPU Activities
The YPU went on Monday
eventing to hold their meeting at
the home of Mr, and Mrs. Bill
Cox. Reba. Yeo, Missions con-
vener, was in charge, and reed
the Scripture. Kathleen Holmes
played a piano solo, and, as presi-
dent, directed the business which
centred on ,the concert which is
to be held on February 21. Rev.
Mr. Newton gave an interesting
talk on aspects of health week,
including the uses • for • medical.
purposes to which money raised
by the M. and M. Fund is put in
other countries. The meeting on
