The Cllublmeets Thursday ndglhlt's
in Epps Sporting Goods' Game
Room.
A group of ladies, from Clin•
ton and district got together last
November and started something
new and different in the way of
recreation for themselves. Act-
ually, the idea came originally
from Mrs. Ellwood Epps who
found her husband just wasn't
enough competdibion.
Mrs. Epps decided to do
something about that, end had a
notice inserted in The NEWS -
RECORD asking interested
ladies to meet at the range
" in ti'e Epps Sporting Goods store.
Six girls turned up, some of
whom knew which end of a gun
was which, and some who didn't,
but they called in two expert
rifle shoes. Ealwood Epps and
Bill Jervis, who consented to act
as instructors and help the ladies
get started.
Under this capable supervision,
the club soon worked up. a real
interest in shooting, and there
are several homes in the district
where an armed burglar would be
likely to come off second best.
Since its organization, the
club's membership has doubled
and the members have greatly
improved their scores. Several
of the girls already have their
Dominion Marksman bronze pins,
and are well on their way to
obtaining the silver awards.
Three of the shooters enjoy the
competition so much they drive

This turned out to be a huge
success and everyone enjoyed it
immensely.
A few nights ago, the club had
its first chicken shoot, which
really made the girls try hard.
Three chickens were bought by
the club es prizes, and Ellwood
Epps donated ammunition as a
