Sturgeon, Sr, left on Monday to visit it relatives at St, Thomas. Frank Corrie, Stratford is visiting his son Maynard and Mrs. Corrie. R. J. Larson, returned home on Saturday after spending a month at. Spalding, Sask. Mr. and Mrs. A. Scotchmer Jr, and family spent the week- end in St. Thomas. Miss Rhea. Muth, Port Dover, spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Macoeod, Miss Jane Denby returned home on Sunday after spending two - weeks at St. Thomas. Miss Ethel ,Blair, ' Goderich, spent the weekend with her par - eats- Mr, and Mrs. Robert Blair. Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Feather- ston, London, spent the weekend with Mr; and Mrs. 'R. J. Larson. Mrs. M. McClure; who has e spent -the past month et Seaforth returned to her home on Sat- urday. Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Weston, and daughter Judy, who have. resided in the village for the. past four years, left on Friday of last week to make their home in London. Missionary 'Society Meeting The January meeting of the Missionary Society of Knox Presbyterian Church was held at the home of Mrs. C. W. Brown. the newly elected president, Mrs, Wm. Her many friends join in wishing her a very speedy' recovery.' Successful Paris' The community party held in Pouter's Hill school on. Friday evening last was well attended. Progressive euohre and "500" was played with high prizes in euchre going to Mrs. Will Cox and Aud- rey Harrison; in "500" to Laur- ene Cox and Bill Harris. • Lunen. was served and dancing to Ir- w•in's orchestra was enjoyed. Special attractions for dancing was the elimination dance won by Marianne and George Col- clough. By the way, Harry Wil- iliam's and his partner were the first to be eliminated. Prizes for the best waltzers went to Mr. and Mrs, Harry Williams, Card Party Held The Community Club sponsor- ed a card party held in the Port- er's Hill school on Monday even- ing of this week with proceeds going to 'the Hospital Auxiliary Games Week" High prizes to euchre went to Lillian Picot and Gordon Manning and in "500" to Joyce Townshend and Wilmer Harrison. Tickets were sold on a box of groceries and a bushel of apples donated by Mr. and Mrs. Bill McGuire; the groceries going to Keith Cox and the ap- ples to Clarence Sturdy. Lurch was served by the ladies of the Club. The suin of $26.10 was realized from this pleasant even- ing. Community Chub Meets The regular meeting of Port- er's Hill Community Club was held on Wednesday last• at the home of Mrs. Peter Harrison. In the absence of the president, the vice-president, Mrs. Peter Harris- on, was in charge of the meeting which opened with singing "Home on the Range." Secretary and treasurer's rpeorts were given and roll call responded to by an ex- change of Christmas cake. ' A business discussion followed .after which Mrs. John McCowan nave a humorous reading and Mrs. Glen' Pickhard conducted a contest. The meeting closed and after a social hour a lovely Iunch was served by the hostess. The next meeting will be at the home of Mrs. George Hudie. No species of birds now living have teeth, SUMMERHILL $25 for Hospital The ladies from the ruralcom- munity north of Clinton held a very successful bingo and dance in the Summerhill Hell on Thurs- day evening last, and as a result are. able to hand $25 over to Clin- ton Hospital Aid. Lunch was served and •a very pleasant even- ing was enjoyed by all present. This was one of •a series of events in' connection with the Hospital Gaines programme,. which is being held at the present time. Ladies' Club Meets The January meeting of Stun= merhill Ladies' Club was held at the home of Mrs. Keith Tyn- dall with 24 members and three vtisitors present. The meeting opened with the singing of "0 Come All' Ye Faithful.' Thank you's were received from Mrs. Blacker and from the Mair fam- ily. - It was decided to donate $10 to the March of Dimes. The programme consisted of a completion contest by Mrs. Gray- don Neal which was won by Mrs. Ivan Hoggart; a very pleas- ing piano solo played by Mrs. Keith Tyndall; acluett sung by Misses Susan and Connie Smith; and• a name contest conducted by Mrs. Orval Rapson and won by Mrs. William Holland. The February meeting will. be held at the home of Mrs. Goldie Smith. The programme will be in charge of Mrs. Goldie Smith, Mrs. Wc-s Vodden,, Mrs. Lloyd Stewart and Mrs. Keith Tyndall. Those responsible for the lunch are to be Mrs. Wes Hoggert, Mrs. Chester Farguhar, Mrs. Graydon Neal and Mrs. Goldie Smith, CONSTANCE 'Visitors for the weekend In- cluded: Mr, and Mrs. N.
