Murray. On their return they
were accompanied by his mother
who will spend a week with
them,
Lions Active
Bayfield Lions Club distributed
a Christmas basket to the shut-
ins on Christmas Eve. Owing
to the storiny weather they were
unable to have the carol singing
and distributed their baskets from
door to door in a truck.
Christmas Party Held
Bayfield Lions Club held its
annual Christmas party for the
children on Friday afternoon of
last week. Pictures were shown
and then Santa Claus arrived and
distributed treats to the child-
ren. At the close of the party a
ticket was drawn by Mrs. James
Ferguson for the winner of a
pony, which was won by Mrs.
Lloyd Scotchmer.
Christmas Services
During the Christmas season.
three services were held in Trin-
ity Anglican Church. These ser-
vices were taken by the rector,
Rev, H. 3, E. Webb. At the Christ-
mas Day service he told a Christ-
mas story to the children and one
to the adults and carols were
sung. At the close of the service
there was Holy Communion.
S.S. Christmas Concert
St. Andrew's United Church,
Bayfield, held its annual Christ-
mas concert on Friday, Dec 22, in
the schoolroom of the church.
There was a fine attendance of
the children and members, of the
congregation.
The programme consisted of the
singing of carols, followd by a
short address by the chairman,
Rev, Peter Renner. There were
songs and recitations by the
children, even the tiny tots per-
forming. There were three short
films shown by Reg. Francis, a
member of Bayfield Lions. "White
SUMMERI-ILL'
Ladies' Club Meets
The December meeting of Sum-
merhill Ladies' Club was held at
the home of Mrs. Orval Riappon,
with 20 members present, The
meeting •opened with the singling
of "Silent Night," and the re-
peating of the Lord's Prayer in
unison. '
The roll call was answered by
giving a gift for a child. It was
decided to donate these gifts to
the Children's Shelter, Goderich,
and Miss Dorothy Blake was
nominated to deliver the toys.
The programrne consisted of a
contest given by Mrs. Allan Neal
and won by Mrs. Blake. Mrs.
Wilfred Penfound conducted. a
game of bingo.
The January meeting is to be
held at the home of Mrs. Goldie
Smith. The programme is to be
in charge of Mrs. Graydon Neal,
Mrs, Will Lovett, Mrs. George
Mills and Mrs. Orval Rapson. The
lunch committee is to be Mrs.
Jo DuBois, Mrs. Keith Tyndall,
1VLrs. Orval Rapson and Mrs. Don
Smith.
Magic" scenes were particularly
fine, showing the winter sports
skating and skiing, amid grand
mountainous scenery. Another
film, of Walt Disney's, delighted
the children with the action of
the animals depicted.
The school children from No
4 S.S. West Stanley, were in a
beautiful drill and later sang
Christmas carols. Children from
Mrs. Gladwin. Westlake's class
a u d Mrs. Charles Scotchmer's
were in group recitations, and a
short dialogue. The Trials of a
School Teacher was given by two
of the S.S. pupils. A short play
"Truant Husbands," was given by
Delores Renner and Marior
Maki -ns.
William Sparks gave a shoe
talk after which Rev. and Mrs
Renner were palled to The plat-
form and were presented with
gifts in appreciation of their
work. Mr. and Mrs. Rennea
thanked the congregation and
told of their pleasure in their
work here, Santa Claus, in the
person of Percy Renner, appear-
ed and gifts and bags of candy
were given to the children. The
gathering closed with the sing-
ing of the National Anthem.
