Fairmount School Concert
Fairmount (No. 10) school-
house was thronged to capacity
on Monday night, Dec. '18, for
the annual .Christmas concert,' 4
splendid veriety , program was
presented by the pupils with Ro-
bert Welsh the capable chairman
and Miss Olive Johnston, the
teacher, as pianist.
This program had many out-
standing numbers, noteworthy
were the efforts of the Fairmount
Rhythm Band (F.H.B.), which
favoured with popular selections.
Miss Catherine Welsh , sang a
sole very sweetly:, A ' novelty
number, 'Frosty, the Snowman,"
was very well received. A Christ-
mas Wreath Drill was beautifully
presented.
The dialogue, "Wonted, a
Housekeeper," with Jamie Storey
and Bobby Cliff as dilapidated
bachelors interviewing impossible
would-be housekeepers, "brought
down the house." The traditional
Highland Fling in costume, by
the senior girls received a much -
deserved encore. Stunts by the
boys, many recitations, dialogues,
piano solos and harmony sing-
ingof Christmas carols rounded
out a very complete program.
The arrival of Santa to unbur-
den the laden Christmas tree
climaxed' ,a delightful evening. It
is very heartening in this age of
atom bombs and threats of war
casting ugly shadows on our
Lord's birthday to see the exstatic
expeotant faces of over 60 bright-
eyed children as they await their
presents.
This concert was attended by
every age from great-grandmoth-
ers to babes in arms. Many- were
present from neighboring school -
sections and towns.
Miss Johnson and her pupils
ere to be congratulated on the
excellence of their concert and
the appearance of their beauti-
fully decorated school.
