E. Hovey, Janet McLeod, Helen Blair, Don Warner a nd Mildred Fraser. The score was 10-2 in favour of Stratford. Bayfield played a match against STANLEY Goderich' Totinship; Mr. and Mrs. Ed C. Glen have returned from visiting Mrs. Mary Elliott and Mr, and Mrs. Guy Maddock, Toronto, and while there attended the Royal Winter Fair. • Exeter at Clinton on 'Mond'ay evening. Ted Mack and Mt. and Mrs. Maynard Corrie played in- stead of Janet McLeod and Mild- red Fraser. The result was a 6-6 tie. Long-delayed Operation Mrs. R. J. Larson is nursing a sore hand as a result of an acci- dent 18 years ago when she ran a lead pencil into her thumb. The lead broke off and remained there. The thumb healed and had never given any trouble till recently. Mr; and Mrs. Bob Turner and family, Bayfield, spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Arkell. Mr. and Mrs. W. A. McGuire returned on Wednesday after spending a few days at the Royal Winter Fair, Toronto. Mr. and Mrs, Edwin Tufts and, Ruth Anne, London, spent the weekend at the home of Mr, and Mrs. John Middleton. Farm Forum Meets S.5. .No. 4 Farm Forum met Mondays ``evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Irvine Tebbutt with 14 present. This was Review Night end after the regular broad- cast and short discussion Mrs. Carman Tebbutt conducted a contest and the remainder of the evening was spent in games. The ladies served lunch. The meet- ing'•next Monday will -be held at the home of Mr. and Mrs; Ira Merrill, Mrs. Hebden and Fred Lobb are in charge of the recrea- tion. LONDON' ROAD London Road Club Meets The monthly meeting of London Road Club took place at the home of Mrs. Bennett with eight members and one visitor present. The president opened the meet- ing by the group singing "The Old Rugged Cross," followed by the Creed. This was followed by a game of euchre, the prizes going to; high, Mrs. N. Manning; low, Mrs. Monaghan. Mrs. Inglis won the mystery box. The December meeting is to be held at Mrs. Fred Anderson's, Sr., on Decem- ber 14, with exchange of gifts. C. THOMSON NEW ONTARIO LIBERAL LEADER Walter C. Thomson, 54 -year- old M.P. for Ontario riding, and a son of the manse, is the new leader of the Ontario Liberal Party. He was chosen Friday, Nov. 10 at convention of the Liberals in Toronto, winning over seven other candidates, With his clos- est competition coming from Dr. Harry M. Cassidy, University of Toronto professor, and John G. Brown, Liberal member of the Legislature for North Waterloo. Mr. Thomson, a lawyer and farmer, won on the third ballot polling 365, votes, while Dr. Cas- sidy, who ran second, got 220 votes. • In third place was Mr. Brown with 116' votes. C. C. Calder, London's mem- ber of the Legislature, ran fourth. The other candidates were Ar- nott Hicks, Hamilton furrier; J. J. Sullivan, Hamilton lawyer; Charles W. Cox, Fort William, MLA, and Norman 0. Tuckeramith, and Al- bert Kalbfleisch, Zurich. a CONVICTION APPEALED .According to Chief of Police Leo Kelly, John Pearson, London taxi driver, is appealing his con- viction on a charge of careless driving by Magistrate D. E. Holmes at Goderich September 14. The hearing will be before Judge T. M. Costello at Goderich in December. SEAFORTH—Considerable dis- cussion was held by Seeforth Council concerning the matter of fire protection for a neighboring municipality and it was finally approved by council to extend the present two and a half mile fire protection to Tuckeramith to a five -mile Limit, south and west of the village and two and a half miles east.
