' MRS. W. T. HENRY
After a gradual decline in
health for the' past two years;
an an illness of three weeks
duration, Mrs. William T. Henry,
Clinton, passedaway in Clinton
Public Hospital, on Tuesday, No-
vemiber 7, 1950.
Mrs. Henry, formerly Mary
Almeda Tiplady, youngest ' dau-
ghter of the late William Tiplady
and Mary Padget, was born June
20, 1869, in East Whitby, near
Oshawa, When only two years
of age she accompanied her par-
ents to Clinton where they had
purchased a farm, two miles
north of the town on the Base
Line: After her marriage to
George Wrey she and her hus-
band purchased the Tiplady
homestead and resided there until
Mr. "Way's death in 1911, For
the past 39 years she had been
a resident of Clinton, Her second
husband, William T. Henry, pre-
deceased her some years ago.

Mrs. Henry was a faithful,
devoted member of Ontario St.
Unitdd Church and was actively
interested in the women's or-
ganizations of the church serv-
ing in her earlier life in official
capacity in the WA.
Mrs. Henry was the last mem-
ber of her immediate family and
is survived by three nieces, Mrs.
Clifford Keyes, Varna; Mrs.
Donald MacLeod, Thamesville;
Mrs. Melville McFadden, Cooks-
town; end one nephew, Gien`W,
Cornish, Clinton; also two step-
sons, Dr. Oliver 'Henry, Winni-
peg, Man„ and Fred Henry, Van-
couver, B.C.
Funeral services were held at
the Ball and Mulch Funeral Home,
High St., Clinton, on Friday, No-
vember 10, and were conducted
by her pastor, Rev. W. J. Wool-
frey. Interment took place in
Clinton Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bruce Keyes,
James T. Ieyes, Clark Ball, Fred
Vodden, Harold Pickett and Geo-
rge Shipley. Relatives from a
distance at the funeral were
from Thamesville, London, Varna
and Cookstown.
MRS. HELENA CARTER
Mrs, Helena "Carter, Goderich,
died Wednesday night, Novem-
ber 15, in Alexandra Hospital,
Goderich, where she had been a
patient for more than a year.
Formerly Helena Agnes Reid,
she was a daughter of the late
Mr. and Mrs. David Reid; and
was a lifelong resident of Gode-
rich. She was educated in Gode-
rich public school and collegiate
institute, She was a member of
North Street United Church and

Surviving ere one son, Clyde,
of 'the Advertising Staff of -The
London Free Press; one grand-
child, Catherine Carter, end a
sister, Mrs. Alice Bridgette, Los
Angeles.
Funeral service was held at the
Brophey funeral home, Goderich,
Saturday afternoon, November
18. Rey. C. W. Cope, of. North
Street United Church, officiated,
assisted by Rev, Dr. 'W. E. Mac=
Niven, London. Interment was
in Maitland Cemetery.
JOHN HENRY COOPER
Funeral services were held at
the family home, Mary St., Clin-
ton, on Saturday afternoon, No-
vember 18, 1950, for John Henry
Cooper. Rev. A. A. McMillan,
minister of Northside United
Church, Seaforth, of which de-
ceased was a member, officiated.
Two of Mr. Cooper's favourite
hymns "What a friend we have
.
in Jesus" and. "Softly and Tend-
erly", were sung during the
service. Interment followed in
Maitlendbank t Cemetery, Sea -
forth.
Pallbearers were John Powell,
James Carter, William Rutledge,
Wallace Powell, Frank Fowler
and Bert Irwin, Flower bearers
were Lorne Carter, Jack Powell,
Bob Irwin and Jack Carter,
Mr. Cooper was born at Con-
stance, Hullett Township, on
October 7, 1881, a son of Henry
Cooper and the late Elizabeth
Carter. He had spent his entire
ifetime in his native township,
living on the highway near Sea-
orth for almost 50 years. About
a month ago he moved with his
father and sister to Clinton.
Mr. Cooper's death occurred in
Clinton Public Hospital, early
Wednesday morning, November
15, following a short illness.
Unmarried, Mr. Cooper is sur-
vived by his father, Henry Coop-
er, and one sister, Mrs. May Mc-
Elroy, both residing in Clinton.
He was predeceased by one
brother and one sister.
MRS. NELSON SANDERS
The death took place on Satur-
day, Nov. 18, of Mrs. Wilhehnina
Sanders, widow of Nelson Sand-
ers, in her 71st year. She was
born in Hullett Township and
attended school in that township.
She was married in 1904 to Mr.
Sanders, who died in 1932. Dur -
'ng the last few months she had
been in the Smith nursing home
in Mitchell.
She is survived by one son,
Luther Sanders, Hullett Town-
ship.
The funeral took place Mon-
day afternoon, Nov. 20, from the
G. A. Whitney funeral home,
Seaforth, with Rev. D. Glenn
Campbell conducting the service,
interment was made In Maitland -
bank Cemetery.
WILLIAM A. VODDEN,
Funeral services', were, held at
the Ball and Mutch Funeral
Hone°, High St„ Clinton, on
Thursday, November 16, 1950, for
William Adam Vodden. Rev. W.
J. Woolfrey officiated and inter-
ment followed in • Londesboro
Cemetery.
Pallbearers, all grandsons, were
Fred, Leonard and Alvin Vod-
den, Bert Garrett, Ross,, Trewar-.
the and Jack Pipe.. Flower bear-
ers were Roy, Kenneth and Bob
Vodden and Bert Shobbrook.
Mr. Vodden was born in Hul-
lett Township, on December 3,
1862, a son of the late William
and Anne Vodden. He was a suc-
cessful farmer in his native town-
ship and about 35 years ago re-
tired to Clinton. He continued to
reside here until after the death
of his wife a Iittle over a year
ago, end since that, time had
made his home with `members of
his' family.
Mr. Vodden was a member of
Ontario St. United Church and
took an active interest in the life
of the church,
Mr, Vodden's death occurred
at the home of his son, Wesley
Vodden, on Tuesday,, November
14. Although he had not been
in the best of health earlier this
year he had been in his usual
health, and his death occurred
quite suddenly.
As a young man Mr. Vodden
married Sarah Emeline Modeland
who predeceased him a number
of years ago. Later he married
Sarah Williamson who predeceas-
ed him in August 1949..Surviv-
ing are four sons, Wesley, I•Iul-
lett; Joseph, 'Clinton; and John
and Charles, Hullett; four dau-
ghters, Mabel, Mrs. Newman
Garrett, Hullett; Mary, Mrs. Wil-
liam. Daer, Goderich ;and Grace,
Mrs. Herman Crich, Tuckersmith.
There are also 26 grandchildren,
27 great grandchildren; o n e
brother, Albert, and one sister,
Mrs. Bert Langford, both of Clin-
ton, One daughter, Gertrude,
Mrs. Trickett, London, predeceas-
ed her father some years ago.

keeping a common bawdy house,
and of bringing liquor into Hu-
ron County and keeping for sale
against Joseph Nelson, Stanley
Township, near Brucefield, was
adjourned two weeks until No-,
vember .23 by Magistrate D. E.
Holmes, at Goderich Thursday,
Charges of being found -ins
against three men, and of being
inmates of a disorderly house
against two women also were ad-
journed one week,

Interesting Meeting
Thb November meeting of On-
tario St. United Church WMS was
held on Tuesday afternoon, No-
vember 14. at the Parsonage,
with Mrs, Milton Wiltse in the
chair and Miss Elva Wiltse at
the piano. There was a large
attendance.
A very worm welcome was
given. to Mrs. George Shipley,
Everyone was glad to have her
back after her absence through
illness,
Mrs. Fear conducted the wor-
ship service. The secretary, Mrs.
Townsend, read the minutes, and
the treasurer, Mrs. Wheatley,
gave a very encouraging report
of the finances to date. Roll call
was answered by "Peace."
The nominating committee, ap-
pointed for next year's officers
was Mrs. John Radford, Mrs.
Norman Carter and Miss Rena
Pickett
The Watch Tower was given by
Mrs. W. J. Plumateel after which
Miss Elva. Wiltse favoured with
a solo. Mrs. Maltby was in
charge of the Study Book with
Mrs. McMurray and Miss Wiltse
assisting. The meeting was very
interesting throughout, Mrs.
Woolfrey closed with prayer.
The quintal? It's 112 pounds
of fish, a. measure, still used in
Newfoundland.
