Basketball 'Team
" To. Represent Town
(By, Len Johnson)
To those who are interested,
this announcement is actually
quite a. revelation, Clinton has a
basketball team! Yes, it's really
true!
Several' athletic and venture-
some fellows, who find them-
selves lacking something to do
nights, found that this idea of-
fered a fair solution. ,
The team will operate in one
of two Intermediate "C" groups
of the OBA.A northern group
consisting of Wingham, Palmer-
ston, ' Seaforth, and Listowel, or
a southern group with Clinton
RCAF, Centralia RCAF, Exeter,
and St. Marys as competitors.
The players rounded up so far
are " Pat Hprnphreys, Graham
Jenkins, Tom Pearson, Alex Wil-
son, Len Johnson, Don Symons,
Ken Tyndall, Charles Johnson,
John Sorensen,
Anyone interested in trying out
for the team should' be out at
practice Thursday at 7.30 p.m. at
Clinton 'Collegiate Institute.
RCAF HOCKEY
(By Sgt. Ed Yaterniek)
•
The final exhibition game prior
to entering the Round -Robin
series was played Wednesday
night at Seaforth Arena. O p r
Station team won again, this time
by . a score of 8-6. , •
Our team after a slow start, in
which the Goderich team rapped
in two quick goals before we
were organized settled down to
playing good, clean, fast hockey
and improved as the game pro-
gressed. The final bell found them
ahead by two goals. Goal scor-
ers for the Station team were:
Diduck with two, Scarrow, God-
ley, Gagin, Beehler, Cantin and
Skinner each with one. Alexander
was again a standout in goal.
SUPPORT MESS
FUNCTIONS
(By F/S Lloyd W. Adams)
The Sergeants' Mess • of RCAF
Station, Clinton, has embarked
on its winter program of Mess
activities. The feature of these•
activities is the bi-monthly bingo
nites. To date these evenings
have been well attended.
On Saturday evening, Nov. 11,
the Mess held its first regular
Hoedown, Don Matthews, "The
best caller in Western Ontario,"
aided by the inimitable "Tiny"
Shortreed, provided instruction
for beginners. Music was pro-
vided by Vern Boys and his Boys.
Sad to relate, Vern Boys was un-
able to attend, however his place
was taken by "Kitten on the
Keys" Ed Hatch, ably assisted
by Mr. James Cruickshank, Mr.
Clarence Perdue and "Hot Lips",
Haines.
The next Bingo is scheduled
for Saturday, Nov. 18, at 9.30 p.m.
A large attendance is expected:
The interest of the Mess has been
aroused over the Special Mystery
Prize for game number five. This
prize has been valued at $15 and
is well worth winning. One
word of advice to the curious—
it is not a year's supply of eggs.
