RCAF VALLEY BALL
(By Cpl. R, Allen)
A great deal of enthusiasm has
been shown by the teams m the
Station Inter -Section Volleyball
League, every team putting up
real opposition in attempts- to
reach the top spot in the score
sheet, Due to unavoidable post-
ponements of some dunes we are
unable at this time to publish
a proper standing score to slate.
Look for volleyball in the next
issue for the league standing. '

RCAF HOCKEY
(By Sgt. EL Yaternick)
Another season of hockey is
drawing near and the Station
hockey teem is . close to the end
of the training session. Shortly
league play will commence and
competitions will be very keen.
The Station team, coached by
LAC Goodhue and, managed by
Sgt. Yaternick llas been holding
practices at the Seaforth Arena
for the past three weeks and are
beginning to shape up Into a well
balanced team, They are pro-
viding very pleasant entertain-
ment with thrills end spills for
the spectators who have been out
to watch them.
Three exhibition games have
been played and a fourth .to be
played • Wednesday night, 'Nov. 8
at Seaforth. So far the team'
has shown up well winning the
three games by scores of 11-4,
6-4, 9-7, against Atwood, Sea -
forth and Goderich intermediates,
respectively. The hardest play-
ed game was against Seaforth
who always provide rough and
tough opposition. The game a-
gainst Goderich was fast and
clean and very good from a
spdctator viewpoint,
Out of the games played to
date, thee line of Scorrow, Good-
hue anrGodley are shaping up
as good a line as will he seen
in the league, Our second and
third lines require brushing up
on passing plays and a little
more finish around the net, but
are quite capable of holding their
own and score their share of
goals.
Our defence of Cantin, Melan-
son, Royer and. Gibson are shap-
ing up well with Cantin provid-
ing the bumps and Melanson the
thrilling rink length rushes. Alex-
ander in goal is cool, steady, and
inspires confidence with his re-
liable work in the nets,
By the time league competition
commences, the Stetion team
should be capable of holding its
own against any club, end pro-
vide fast thrilling games for the
spectators. So come on out and
enjoy these hockey games. It is
your support that provides good
Station sport spirit,

CDCI Loses Final
To Goderich DCI
(By Richmond Atkey)
It was "curtains for Clihton.
Redmen at Goderich yesterday
afternoon in the final scheduled
match of the Huron Secondary
Schools Association rugby foot-
ball series.
Goderich Blues won the game
15-0 on three unconverted touch-
downs and a passing attack that
was considerably superior to the
Redmen's brand.
This gave Goderich the league
title by one point, the :)(nal
standing giving Goderich five
victories and one defeat for ten
points and Clinton four victories,
one tie and one defeat for nine
points -only one little point less.
it was that 6-6 tie match at
Wingham which ' spelled "no
playoff" and meant a Goderich
title in the regular schedule.
Poor Officiating
Chief feature of the match
seemed to be the rather un-
certain officiating of the referee
and umpire —both members of
the staff of Goderich District
Collegiate Institute. It was most
difficult for some of the spec-
tators, who know the rules, to
fathom some of the decisions.
The above is•. not said in • the
spirit of "sour grapes."
But nevertheless, the Goderich
Iads deserved their victory on
the play and are worthy champ-
ions. Their line was better than
Clinton's and gave their backfield
better support. Their passing was
better, too.
The versatile John Westbrooke
ran 45 yards for the first trench -
down with two minutes to go in
the first quarter. and no convert
resulted in an attempted run
over the line,
Goderich's Lionel Arbour grab-
bed an attempted Clinton for-
ward pess early in the fourth
quarter and ran 55 yards for a
touchdown, The attempted con-
vert was blocked. The winners
added another touchdown near
the end of the quarter when John
Westbrooke went over after pick-
ing up a neat forward pass.
Under the excellent coaching
of Pat Humphreys and Graham
Jenklns, the Clinton lads have
made excellent progress in the
game this year and will be heard
from next •year.
