occupying ,Rev. F. H. Paull's cot-
tage.
Mr. end Mrs. T. L. Wilson and

Florida, left on Tuesday after
having been with Mrs. George
Lindsay over the weekend,"

E. Howard. over the weekend.
Mrs. R. H. Peck, Mrs. Douglas
Varty and little Barbara, Lon-
don, spent a few days last week
at their cottage, "Belle Vue," be-
fore closing it for the season.
Miss Mary Marks, accompanied
by Mrs. Tudor Marks, Edmon-
ton, came on Tuesday of last
week to spend her vacation with
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles
Marks.
Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Coates left
on Friday to spend a few days
in Clinton before returning to
their home in Ottawa after hav-
ing spent a fortnight at The
Little Inn.
Miss A. M. Stirling is visiting
her sister, Mrs. H. McLaren, -,'in
Port Elgin. Mr. and Mrs., Mc-
Laren- and. Christine motored to
the village for her on Friday,
returning home on Saturday.
Mrs. William Menerey, Mr. and
Mrs. Wayne Chatterton and two
daughters, Carol and Beth, Yale,
Mich., and Mr. and Mrs. Clare
Hall and two sons,. Morris and
Bill, Flint, Mich., were the guests
of Mrs. Bruce Menerey over the
weekend.
Mrs. F. W. McEwen attended
the Evans-Procunier wedding in
Metropolitan United Church end
reception at the Highland Golf
Club, London, on Saturday. Miss
Doris McEwen, U.W.O,, accomp-
anied her mother home and spent
the weekend here.
Trinity WA Meets
The WA of Trinity Church Met
at the home of Mrs. N, W. Woods
on Thursday afternoon last. Mrs.
Emerson Heard was in the chair
and conducted the opening ex-
ercises and litany. The Scripture
was read by Miss Lucy Woods.
Mrs. It. J. Larson read the min-
utes of lest meeting which were
approved as read. There are
still a number of M.S.0:C. calen-
dars available. It is the aim of
the WA to have a church calen-
dar in every home, and those
who have not yet purchased one
are asked to contact any of the
officers. Mrs. R. H. F. Gairdner
read a portion on China and Mrs.
J. B. Higgins on India from the
booklet on mission fields recent-
ly published by the Diocese of
Huron. Lunch was provided by
Mrs. Byrd Sturgeon, Mrs. E. A
Featherston and Mrs. E. Heard
The Benediction was pronounced
by the president.

sessor W. H. Haney, statistics
show an increase in population
for Winghain. The, present figure
stands at 2,614. There are 1,784
of 20 years of age and over.

Successful Bazaar
The annual bazaar of the ISMS:
and WA was held on. Saturday
afternoon in the Council Chamber,
Clinton. The booths with their
attractive. displays of baking,
vegetables, fancy work and other
items,were well patronized, and
a great many took advantage of
the appetizing tea served.
Mr. and Mrs. John Proctor, De-
troit, visited Mr. and Mrs. P.
Palmer on Friday and Saturday.

• YPU Elects Officers
Holmesville YPU held its in-
augural meeting on Monday,
October 23, in the Sunday School
rooms. Alyx Glen• was in charge
with Eileen Gliddon playing hymn
accompaniments, and Lance Sad-
dler reading the scripture. Dewar
Norman reported $91.46 still in
the treasury.
Rev. M. G. Newton conducted
the election of officers as follows:
President, Kathleen Holmes; vice-
president, Pamela Saddler; sec-
retary, Marie Jervis; press sec-
retary, Esther Ross; treasurer,
Dewar Norman; music convener,
Eileen Glidden.
The members were divided in-
to groups under the following
leaders: Christian Fellowship and
Missions, Rete Yeo; Citizenship,
Alex Glen; Culture, Esther Ross;
Social, Kenneth Trewartha and
Donald Jervis. This coming
Monday's meeting will be at the
home of Mr. and Mrs, . W. Nor-
man, at 8.30.

Hullett Branch of the Federa-
tion of Agriculture are holding
their annual meeting in the Com-
munity Hall, Londesboro, on.
Wednesday, November 1, at 8.30
p.m. The guest speaker will be
Gordon Bennett, Clinton, agricul-
tural representative for Huron
County.,» There will be a short
programme, followed by a dance,
with music by Murdock's orch-
estra.
Londesboro WA Meets
The regular meeting of Lon-
desboro WA was held in.the Sun-
day School room of the church
on Thursday, October 19, with
the president, Mrs. B. Shobbrook,
in charge.
The meeting opened by the
singing of two hymns, Scripture
reading and prayer. The minutes
of last meeting were read and
adopted. The treasurer's report
was then given. Cards and let-
ters rf appreciation were read
from Mr. and Mrs. Dieser and
Mr. George Moon. The society
voted to cater to a turkey ban-
quet for the Masons on Novem-
ber 3. They are also sponsoring
a concert' to be staged by the
Huronia Male Chorus, Exeter, on
November 24.
Roll call was answered b y
"What I am .thankful for." The
roll call for November is to be
•answered by "Ideas for Christ-
mas gifts." Programme committee
for November: Mrs. Brenton and
Mrs. Lansing. The meeting clos-
ed wth a hymn and benediction.
Lunch was served by hostesses.
There were 21 present.

Mission Band Meets
The, Mary Grierson Mission
Band held its October meeting in
the ,basement of the Church, wilth.
the president, June Manning, in
the chair, and Marguerite Lyon
at the piano. The meeting-open-
ed
eetingopen-ed with a . call to worship, 'the
singing of the hymn• "Jesus bids
us shine," followed by the sing-
ing of the National Anthem and
the repeating of the Lordts Pray-
er in unison.
•The Scripture lesson was read.
The minutes of the last meeting
,were read by the secretary,
Muriel Shobbrook. Birthday
pennies were given by Kenneth
flunking and Mrs. B. Shob-
brook. The roll call was answ-
ered by the 18 members present
paying their World Friends sub-
scription fee. The offering was
taken 'by Billy Crawford. A thank
you card was also read from.

The temperance report was
given by Kenneth Gaunt with
Marguerite Lyon giving World
Peace and also favouring with a
piano solo. The Study Book was
given by Mrs. B. Shobbrook, end
the missionary story by June

that the Boy Scout organization
once again will be active here.

Happy Workers Club was held

Lord's Prayer.

reports were given. It was de-
cided that each member would
bring some article for the bale to
the next meeting which is to be
held at the home of Mrs. Noble
Holland,
A guessing contest was won by
Mrs. Andre Deseck. Mrs. Wil-
liam Glazier 'held the lucky
ticket. ' . •
A delicious lunch was served
by group 4, consisting of Mrs.
John Smith, Mrs. Wilfred Glaz-
ier end Mrs. Albert Glazier.
